David did a bang-up job this morning summarizing and neatly itemizing every dizzying twist and turn in the crazy story of the midnight ride of the RAF Fairford Five so far. Five days in and we’ve still no answers to what they were – fuel thieves, skulkers, hired henchmen, or international Islamic terrorists determined to do dirty deeds.
No clue.
And still no clue who they are, other than five London lads in their mid-twenties out for a midnight van run to the back-of-beyond Cotswolds wearing dark clothes and face coverings, who can still run a sprightly sprint into the woods when need be.
All five, as we’ve previously reported and much to everyone’s confusion and consternation, have been released on the British version of double-double secret probation, and the prime minister assures the world there are no worries.
Which is why it came as something of a surprise to see another arrest announced late this afternoon, British time.
On terrorism charges, no less.

This fellow must be a little different because instead of the usual vanilla ‘London resident, British national, 25-year-old‘ claptrap, we get the additional tidbit that he’s a ‘UK-Iranian national.’
As well as the fact that police have been questioning another one of these dime-a-dozen ‘UK nationals.’

A sixth man has been arrested in the investigation into an alleged bomb plot near RAF Fairford.
The 27-year-old man, a dual UK/Iranian national, was arrested on Thursday afternoon in the Borough of Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, Counter Terrorism Policing said.
A 26-year-old man, a UK national, has been questioned under caution.
Searches of two properties were also carried out in the same area.
Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicki Evans said: “The investigation into circumstances surrounding events in Gloucestershire is hugely complex, and our specialist teams are interrogating multiple lines of enquiry.
“As we’ve made clear, we’re looking at all possible angles – including possible foreign state involvement. I’d like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation.”
