You have to love it when somebody accidentally tells on himself.
And Ro Khanna, who I used to think was a rare, reasonable lefty, has been doing it quite a lot lately as he tries to make himself relevant in the race to become the Democratic Party candidate for president.
Ro built his career and reputation in Congress as a progressive who was also business-friendly, which is, to put it mildly, akin to being a 600 lb yoga instructor.
He pulled it off well enough that Silicon Valley entrepreneurs backed him, and continued to do so until he started running for president. Ro went from vanilla soft socialist to billionaire-bashing radical in a hot second, and ever since, he has been grandstanding to get attention.
I’ve been rolling my eyes just about every time Ro pops up in the news. Everything he does is pathetically transparent and still off-key.
He “exposed” some random guys as Epstein’s billionaire clients, when they turned out to be random names in the files, unrelated to Epstein, and they never met him. A poor guy got fired because of that one, and Ro would be on the hook for massive legal settlements were he not protected by the Speech and Debate Clause.
Ro is trying to jump on the “pack the Court” bandwagon and gave a speech on the floor of the House filled with faux outrage, and he told on himself in the process:

I say we take him up on it. After all, President Trump would be nominating those four justices, and the Republican Senate would be approving them—and thanks to the Democrats, there is no filibuster on Supreme Court nominations.

You see the point? Ro isn’t interested in the what, but the who. That is the Democratic Party standard now. It’s all about race, gender, ideology, and power, and has nothing to do with the fairness of the process.
That’s why, in Fairfax County, illegal aliens can rape, sexually assault children, or stab people without facing jail, but ordinary citizens get the book thrown at them for regular crimes.
That’s why BIPOC people get bonuses in Massachusetts merely for having darker skin color.

That’s why Somalis in Minnesota can pillage the treasury through massive fraud and go unpunished by the state.
It’s not what you do, it’s who you are. If you are on the Democrats’ side, everything is permitted.
Ro here is showing the underlying logic of the Democrats. He says pack the courts NOW! But what he meant was PACK THE COURTS WHEN WE HAVE POWER. If the Republicans did this right now, he would explode. He would rise to the floor of the House and scream Jim Crow Version 3!
It’s not the what, it’s the who.

That is exactly the reason we live in a Constitutional Republic rather than a direct democracy: to avoid this sort of “help my friends and harm my enemies” mentality, which lies at the heart of the corruption we see everywhere in Blue states and cities.
Democrats have been arguing that we need to toss out the Constitution and replace it with something more to their liking. Kamala Harris just proposed a total revision of our Constitution, and Marc Elias suggested dissolving Virginia’s state government.
Lest Democrats forget, Ruth Bader Ginsburg said nine justices on the US Supreme Court is the right number. Imagine, for a moment, if Trump and the Senate Republicans really did take up Ro’s inadvertent offer to “reform” the Supreme Court NOW! Imagine what the media would say. Every pundit, every celebrity, everybody who is right now floating the idea that we need to pack the Court.
We all know what would happen. Riots in the streets. Antifa everywhere. Even more talk of a civil war.
Ro just accidentally, through a slip of the tongue, said “Now!” But he doesn’t mean NOW. He means when it is useful to the radicals. Not until then.
I suggest we test his sincerity. Ro, will you help us pack the courts with the current Senate and president? We accept your offer.
