Two people were injured in Laurel, Maryland, after a shooting broke out following a meet-up to conclude a sale that was arranged online.
The shooting occurred in the 14700 block of Baltimore Avenue in Laurel on Sunday.
The Laurel Police Department said on social media that an initial investigation indicated that “the shooting occurred during a meet‑up for an online sale.”
The two victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and went to local medical facilities for treatment.
Laura Guenin, the public information officer for the police department, told Washington’s WRC-TV that one of the victims was a bystander.
The police did not specify whether the other person injured was the seller or buyer in the sale and didn’t say if any parties to the sale are suspected of opening fire.
The police urged people to use a “designated safe-exchange location” for online sales, which includes the Laurel Police Department station at 811 Fifth St.
No arrests have been announced in relation to the shooting.
