For Republicans, the 2026 Senate races may become an embarrassment of riches. For Democrats, it’s just a series of embarrassments.
First came Graham Platner, whom Democrats had to replace after they attempted to pass the violent, Nazi-tatted Kik creeper as a socialist “man of the people,” which fell apart amid accusations of rape and domestic violence. Democrat insiders hand-picked Troy Jackson to replace Platner, and Jackson turned out to have temper issues as well as a cousin-cohabiting past. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed barely won the nomination despite an avalanche of establishment money supporting Haley Stevens, and now Democrats across the country have to distance themselves from El-Sayed’s antisemitic wingman Hasan Piker.
Both of those would be bad enough for Democrats as national narratives in a critical midterm contest. However, Angie Nixon may surpass both as the poster woman for 2026. The Free Beacon published a history of Nixon’s radical positions today, which include publicly embracing a cop-killer leftist as well as the front for the Muslim Brotherhood. In Florida.
“This past presidential election was our Brexit event, and we need to start working on building the right vehicles. And the right vehicles are CAIR Florida,” Nixon said as she addressed CAIR Florida’s gala in Jacksonville in February 2025.
During her November 2024 speech at CAIR Florida’s Tampa gala, Nixon declared that “our oppressor” is “those in power” and that “we are in chains” because most politicians have embraced “respectability politics and assimilation.”
“Let me be clear, we are in chains,” Nixon said. “Those chains are keeping us from realizing our shared power of demanding and accomplishing a ceasefire in Palestine. … Those chains are keeping us from showing up and demanding the cops find the killers of black trans women.”
Nixon, who joined the Democratic Socialists of America in June, in January 2025 also spoke at a CAIR Florida gala hosted in Panama City, where she complained about having to “drive through some old sundown towns and saw some flags that I don’t like” to get to the event. Her three speeches on the CAIR speech circuit followed the same basic structure and were delivered with the apparent intention of raising money for CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in a landmark 2007 terrorist financing case that culminated in the conviction of the founders of the Holy Land Foundation for funneling $12 million to Hamas.
As we have reminded readers in relation to El-Sayed’s financing, CAIR is more than just an unindicted co-conspirator to the Holy Land Foundation. It has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, itself the parent organization of Hamas. El-Sayed’s father-in-law has served in CAIR leadership as well as ISNA, another Muslim Brotherhood entity, and has used a super-PAC to fund El-Sayed’s primary campaign without disclosing the ultimate origin of those funds.
Nixon doesn’t limit herself to cheering for radical Islamist revolutionaries, the Free Beacon notes today. She also promotes leftist cop-killers posing as revolutionaries. In fact, Nixon is so enamored of communist cop-killers that she closes out her speeches with a reference to one:
Nixon closed each of her speeches by quoting Assata Shakur, a member of the Black Liberation Army, a Marxist militant group devoted to “killing cops.” Naturally, Shakur was convicted in 1977 of the first-degree murder of a New Jersey state trooper but later escaped from prison in 1979 and fled to Cuba. Shakur was on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list when she died of natural causes in Cuba in September 2025.
“As the famous freedom fighter Assata Shakur said, ‘It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love—we must love and support one another. We have nothing to lose but our chains.'”
That’s not just defunding the police. Nixon appears ready to endorse murdering the police.
This goes well beyond Hasan Piker and Abdul El-Sayed, which is bad enough as it is. As Jonathan Turley points out today. Democrats can’t simply disclaim Piker after El-Sayed platformed the Twitch streamer during the primary campaign. Part of the problem is also El-Sayed himself, Turley argues, although other Democrats are overlooking it for now:
There was a curious moment this week when Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed expressed shock that people were asking him about a “streamer in California” as he campaigns for the Senate in Michigan. That streamer is, of course, Hasan Piker. Despite El-Sayed’s disbelief, the questions stemmed from the fact that he brought Piker from California to campaign with him in Michigan and embraced him despite condemnations of Piker’s virulent antisemitism and violent rhetoric. However, the problem goes far deeper, as El-Sayed distances himself from views he has previously voiced.
It turns out that there are consequences to campaigning with a man who mocked the murder of a past critic and said that the United States deserved 9/11 (including responding to criticism of Piker in the primary by embracing him on election night at a rally). El-Sayed is not the only Democrat trying to get the media to stop asking him about his association. …
The problem for Dingell and others is not so easily resolved by commanding a supportive media to not ask about Piker, who recently said on his podcast that Jews are asking to be attacked if they openly support Israel.
The problem is that El-Sayed has voiced equally disturbing and analogous views.
This is bad enough for Democrats, who are trying (and failing) to claim that Piker is irrelevant because he’s not on the ballot. Angie Nixon, on the other hand, is the Democrat candidate on the ballot for the US Senate in Florida. Her explicit affiliations with Muslim Brotherhood affiliates and cop-killing radicals matter even more than Piker, whose attachment to El-Sayed makes him fair game for the GOP in this cycle as well.
Either Nixon or El-Sayed would tee up the GOP to roll out the Akin Strategy that Democrats employed in 2012 to nationalize Todd Akin’s gaffes on rape and abortion. Both of these radicals in the same cycle practically amounts to self-Akinization by Democrats themselves. Republicans have already begun to take advantage of these gifts, and their upcoming midterm convention will broadcast them to the entire country.
