There are several themes that run through the excuses being made for Fauci.
You have the “we didn’t know much at the time, and he did the best he could.”
You have the people who insist that Fauci was right all along and his critics are and were wrong.
You have the “It’s all in the past so why dredge it up” crowd.
“This is a witch hunt” is a particularly popular one, of course. If we spend time on minor things like this, how will we find the time to prosecute Trump for paying off Stormy Daniels?
The one of these that I think will give the most comfort to people who don’t want to face the fact that Anthony Fauci is the closest thing to a demon you can find today in America is the “it’s all in the past so let it go” excuse. Most of the people who think that Rand Paul is on a revenge tour and is “obsessed” with getting Fauci can only justify that belief by arguing that dredging up the past is a waste of time.

Anybody who thinks Fauci was an honest broker or that what he said in public was right is too far gone to worry about; the evidence against him is indisputable because he admits so much in his diaries, and because so much evidence exists to show he lied about almost everything.
So what is my rebuttal to the “let it go” appeal?
In 2020, a woman was tased, arrested, and forcibly removed at a high school football game for not wearing a mask.
Fauci lied about masking.
He called it science when it wasn’t.

Simple: what was done to Americans and indeed almost everybody in the world was unforgivable. Some things only God can forgive, and even that requires sincere repentance, any evidence of which in the case of Anthony Fauci is totally absent.

Anthony Fauci committed crimes against humanity on a scale that is almost impossible to conceive, and just as it was impossible to forgive Joseph Mengele for his crimes, it is impossible to forgive Fauci for his.

Millions of people died, likely because Anthony Fauci fought hard to reinstate Gain of Function research after Obama left office; he likely funded the development of this particular virus; he knew the risks and said that they were worth it; and he lied to cover up the possibility that this virus almost certainly was engineered and escaped from a lab.
But those were bureaucratic failures, as awful as they are. What he did to people once the virus escaped makes his failures pale in comparison, because at least he plausibly thought that lives might be saved by that research.
Never forget they murdered your loved ones to push a narrative and wouldn’t let you see them, wouldn’t let you be with them in their final moments, wouldn’t let you touch them at the funeral.

He had absolutely no reason to believe that any of the measures he promoted—social distancing, mask mandates, closing schools, or even vaccine mandates—would have any effect at all in slowing or stopping the spread of the virus. And as the Spring turned to Summer, he already knew that none of these measures worked. By early 2021, he knew that the spread of the virus was not impeded by the vaccine, and even coerced the FDA to hide that fact because he wanted vaccine mandates.

Fauci knew that the vaccine had never been tested in children, but lied about that. Ditto pregnancy. He was one of the most vaccinated people in the world, and he got COVID more often than most people. He told people to avoid family gatherings while having cozy dinners with Jake Tapper and other members of the elite.
…The media has also effectively taken the Fifth on these subjects, declining to publish many of these contradictions. Media outlets have the same reason as Fauci: There is no spin that would reconcile their own prior coverage and gushing reviews of Fauci.

His lies destroyed lives. He stole education from kids. He caused a massive spike in childhood mental illness. He almost single-handedly created a cancer epidemic by promoting the shutting down of non-COVID healthcare. People whose cancers would have been caught in time died because of him. People with heart attacks died because they were afraid to go to the hospital.
That was Tony Fauci, who marveled at how famous and admired he became.
I watched my father die over FaceTime because we were allowed to be in the waiting room but not enter his hospital room. He died with a nurse by his side rather than his wife and children.

He destroyed social trust in this society in a way that may never be healed, and similarly destroyed trust in some of our most important institutions.
I don’t trust them. Do you?
And he laid the groundwork for totalitarian control over speech, which Democrats still lust for, and Europe still implements.
What Fauci did was unforgivable. The very idea that it should be left in the rear view mirror is an affront to humanity.
