A woman got partially stuck and died in a clothing donation drop box in Plantation, Florida, about 41 minutes north of Miami, earlier this week.
The Plantation Police Department said on social media that when officers arrived on Friday morning, the woman was already dead. The police said that the incident is presumed to be an accident, but that it is still being investigated.
The woman was middle-aged and homeless, according to WSVN-TV, and she suffocated to death after getting stuck.
“It’s super sad. Just trying to get some fresh clothes … I’ve dropped clothes off in that bin, and the opening is super small. It’s kind of like at the post office when you put a package in. I can’t imagine someone trying to get into there,” an unnamed woman who had previously donated to the box told WFOR-TV.
The deceased woman’s identity is being held pending notification of her next of kin, police said.
