White House releases mobile app for administration news

The White House launched a mobile app on Friday, giving the Oval Office another outlet to meet Americans online.

The initiative seeks to deliver the Trump administration directly to the American people, positioning it as a direct line to the White House, “cutting through the noise with unfiltered, real-time updates straight from the source.”

The White House app sends breaking news alerts on major announcements and executive actions; records live streams, briefings and speeches; offers a media library featuring speeches, behind-the-scenes moments and archived content; and includes a feedback feature.

The White House also says the application allows access to consolidated social feeds from official accounts and early access to “exclusive” content releases before they go public.

“From the Oval Office straight to your phone, the official White House app is the fastest, most powerful way to stay informed and engaged with the Trump Administration,” the administration said in a statement.

Users may submit questions, feedback and messages directly to President Trump, the White House said.

The president has frequently challenged media coverage that is negative of his administration and actions, frequently using the term “fake news” throughout his two terms to describe media that he considers false, negative and unfair. Critics have noted that this usage often confuses verifiable facts with unfavorable coverage.

The Trump administration’s ire toward certain media outlets expanded when the official White House website created a media offender list, seeking to “expose” biased news.

It said the administration is “pushing back in real time to ensure the American people get the unfiltered truth — no ideological filter, no corporate spin, only the facts so they can decide for themselves.”

The president frequently takes to his Truth Social to announce policy demands and major administrative updates. He started the social media app as a “free-speech” alternative to mainstream platforms, catering to his MAGA base. It has become his go-to approach to airing his opinions and requests.
