The first renderings of the future Donald J. Trump Presidential Library have been released, and to nobody’s surprise, it’s a tower.
A video unveiled by Eric Trump, the president’s son, reveals a sleek glass skyscraper rising majestically from Miami’s downtown, standing like a beacon over Biscayne Bay and dwarfing every high-rise in the vicinity.
“FIRST LOOK: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library is officially here,” said Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, in a Monday evening post on X.
“Over the past six months, I have poured my heart and soul into this project with my incredible team at @Trump,” he said. “This landmark on the water in Miami, Florida will stand as a lasting testament to an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known.”
The computer-generated images show the name “TRUMP” and a giant American flag near the building’s zenith, topped by a glowing red-white-and-blue spire. Video screens showing scenes featuring the president line the base the building.
Will there be gold, the president’s signature color? Not to worry.
The golden entryway, capped by a gold replica of the presidential seal, leads to a full-sized Air Force One and a gold escalator, an apparent reference to the president’s iconic entrance into the 2016 presidential race in New York. There’s also a gold statue of the president raising a fist.
The future home of the Trump Presidential Library is being designed by Bermello Ajamil & Partner, a Miami-based architecture and engineering firm.
“The Trump Presidential Library will be one of the most magnificent buildings in the world and a living testament to the indelible impact President Trump has made on America and its people,” said White House spokesperson Davis Ingle.

There will certainly be no presidential library like it, both in its spectacular reach and its cosmopolitan aesthetic.
The tower’s anticipated height has not been released, but estimates are that it could extend to 50 floors. The edifice is at least three times the size of the nearest structure, the 17-story Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College, as shown in the video.
The tallest presidential structure is currently the Obama Presidential Center’s museum building, located in Chicago’s Jackson Park, which stands eight floors tall.
The tower will be situated on a 2.63-acre plot donated by the college to the state, which transferred the parcel to the Trump Library Foundation in September. The property valued at $67 million is currently used as an employee parking lot for Miami Dade’s Wolfson Campus.
The Trump Presidential Library Foundation is reportedly seeking to raise $1-2 billion to fund the project. The non-profit foundation is soliciting donations on its website, TrumpLibrary.org.
The Trump building’s location also stands in stark contrast to other presidential libraries, which are typically situated in parks or semi-suburban areas, often near the president’s boyhood residence or a college campus in the former commander-in-chief’s home state.
Not only is the Trump library planted squarely in an urban area, but the building is located 1,300 miles from New York City, where Mr. Trump grew up and spent most of his life.
On the other hand, the site is only about an hour from Mar-a-Lago, the president’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Trump officially changed his residency from New York City to Florida in 2019.
The planned library is also in keeping with Mr. Trump’s signature style. The billionaire real-estate developer is known for his glittering high-rise luxury hotels and mixed-use properties, notably the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Midtown Manhattan.
Initial reviews of the library’s design on social media were mixed, with Trump critics blasting it as “gargantuan” and “gaudy,” while Trump fans praised it as “epic,” “stunning,” and “incredible.”
California Gov. Gavin Newsom mocked the gold statue of Mr. Trump, comparing it to golden sculptures of Chinese Communist dictator Mao Tse-Tung and other authoritarian strongmen.
Meanwhile, Trump supporters contrasted the glossy skyscraper to the concrete Obama edifice, which critics have mocked as a “trash can.”
“Trump’s presidential library actually looks great,” said conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong on X. “A much better design than the monstrosity Obama came up with for his library in Chicago.”
