Thursday in the tabbing room …
AOC says “rivers were on fire” because of corporations like Deloitte “pouring chemicals” into waterways.
Deloitte is an accounting, consulting, and tax services firm.
No idea what she’s talking about. pic.twitter.com/mLX64nPnVk

Ed: There’s no accounting for taste … Accountability is what AOC needs … She wants to hold Deloitte accountable … Seriously, this is not an intelligent person.

Mediaite: Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, a senior fellow at The Atlantic Council and the director of Realign for Palestine, slammed New York City mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani (D) on Thursday for carrying water for Hamas during an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum the previous day. …
“Very disappointing,” declared Alkhatib after being asked what he made of Mamdani’s evasive answers. “Look, I’m not in the business of commenting on mayoral races. However, it should be straightforward and low-hanging fruit to say that a terror organization that harmed the Palestinians should be able to disarm. Claiming that you don’t have an opinion on international and foreign relations and-, while at the same time saying you will arrest Bibi Netanyahu, that’s a contradiction to me. You should be able to definitively distance the just, and urgent Palestinian people’s aspirations from Hamas. I was very disappointed, very disturbed by the rhetoric. And again, this is symptomatic of a larger trend within the so-called pro-Palestine movement that exists in the diaspora.”
Ed: This is a category error. Mamdani isn’t pro-Palestinian; he’s pro-Hamas, anti-Israel, and hates Jews and Western civilization. And he has plenty of company in the Democrat Party.

Daily Wire: A stunt coordinator is responsible for designing, choreographing, and safely executing all stunt sequences in film and television, from fight scenes to high-risk action sequences. With people’s lives literally on the line, their jobs are no joke.
That’s what makes it especially chilling that several members of the stunt coordinator community were publicly celebrating Kirk’s assassination, seemingly without consequence.
Professional stunt coordinator Erik Audé told The Daily Wire that he’s being harassed and blacklisted by his colleagues for speaking out against this despicable behavior. While other stunt coordinators cheered Kirk’s death on social media, he fought back, commenting that their statements could, and should, lead to losing work and their reputations.
Ed: This is from a few days ago, but well worth reading. The hostility in Hollywood to conservatives goes well beyond the celebrity set. I’ve connected with Audé to set up an interview; hopefully we’ll get that done in the next day or so.

Bernie Sanders just said that Republicans are good at social media because Jeff Bezos owns X.
Biden 2.0? pic.twitter.com/ao8aTODvRu
— Eyal Yakoby (@EYakoby) October 16, 2025
Ed: Did Sanders just mistake one billionaire for another? Maybe, but the rest of his argument was just as absurd. David Ellison doesn’t have anything to do with social media. Elon Musk used to be a lot closer to Democrats than Republicans until the pandemic and the Biden admin’s speech restrictions prompted him to buy Twitter. Mark Zuckerberg donated hundreds of millions of dollars to progressive and Democrat activists, especially in the 2020 cycle, until he also got disillusioned with Democrat authoritarianism. Zuckerberg was also associated with Arabella, the dark-money funding org that funded/funds a lot of progressive activists. As usual, Bernie has his head up his behind, and not just for confusing Jeff Bezos with Elon Musk.

CNBC, via Instapundit: At CNBC’s inaugural Invest in America Forum, Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner said the company is increasing its investments in U.S.-made products and suppliers, describing it as part of a long-standing, strategic priority.
“Investing in U.S. manufacturing and U.S. operations, sure, it’s great for business, but it’s also great for employment. It’s great for jobs. It’s great for the country, and it helps us with our supply chain being flexible and dynamic,” Furner said.
Nearly two-thirds of the products Walmart sells are made, grown or assembled in the United States, according to Furner. Walmart is expanding on that front, including a new beef processing facility in Olathe, Kansas, which he said is expected to create over 600 jobs.
Ed: Yes, it’s possible to revive American manufacturing, even on less-expensive consumer items. If Walmart can source two-thirds of its stock from US producers, then so can other retailers. It might make goods more expensive overall, but the expansion of manufacturing will also keep more dollars in the US and that will lift all boats in the end.

If you actually read that Politico hit piece you’ll see that many of the messages are being taken wildly out of context. For example, the guy who said “I love Hitler” was clearly being sarcastic. It’s explicitly meant to be a sarcastic joke. And yet Politico put that quote in the…
— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) October 15, 2025
And yet Politico put that quote in the headline of the article and conservatives are lining up to offer denunciations. How in the hell is anyone on the Right still falling for this trick? How have you not learned by now to take absolutely nothing from the leftist media at face value, ESPECIALLY if it’s a blatant political hit piece?
Ed: He’s got a good point. However, John Hawkins asks a good question …
===
Some of it was taken out of context and some of it was guilt by association. On the other hand, even if we’re talking about jokes, do we want people making gas chamber jokes and watermelon jokes about black people in meaningful positions in the GOP? I don’t. They’re poison
— John Hawkins (@johnhawkinsrwn) October 15, 2025
Ed: If you work in politics, you’d better be prepared for the scrutiny that comes with it. Most Republicans and conservatives understand this, which is why we don’t see many of these mistakes. Democrats like Jay Jones figure they will never have any accountability, and so they don’t think to filter themselves. Still, it’s foolish to make “jokes” that your opponents can easily slice out of context, and it shows a lack of strategic and tactical thinking.

Kira Davis: I’ll be totally honest with you – I really don’t know much about it and I haven’t looked very closely at it. I’ve seen the social media aftermath and a couple of snippets from the text thread. Frankly, that was all I needed to see to know this one, tangible truth…
I don’t care.
I’m old enough now to have seen some political cycles come and go, and many scandals with them. I’m observant enough now to correctly identify the moment we are living in – the “vibe,” if you will – and this all seems like amateur hour stuff to me.
There is absolutely no reason for me to feel anxious about “fixing” this or to rush out and make sure everyone knows I condemn racism or racist texts or idiot college boys with idiot funny bones.
Ed: I’m with Kira on this one. I don’t have a problem arguing that Jones’ texts are far worse than the out-of-context tweets of low-ranking staffers. On the other hand, I’m not here to defend people who have bad taste and poor judgment, either.

Ed: That SHOULD be game, set, and match. Unfortunately, thanks to the Protection Racket Media and the impunity they grant Democrats from accountability, it may not be. We’ll see.

Anyone who threatens our national security will be held accountable. pic.twitter.com/nVuebRqIkq
— FBI Director Kash Patel (@FBIDirectorKash) October 16, 2025
Ed: Remember everyone who claimed that Trump having classified material at his home was the end of American national security — until it turned out Biden had decades of it in his Wilmington garage? At least those two were/are presidents. Why would Bolton have classified material at his home at all? Frankly, I consider ALL of it problematic, but be prepared for lots of “it’s different when” and “over-prosecution” arguments from media hacks.

John Hinderaker at Power Line: Bari Weiss has fired Claudia Milne, head of standards and practices at CBS News. Milne was reportedly a significant source of CBS’s “woke” orientation. Variety provides an account that is sympathetic to Ms. Milne. It quotes Milne’s farewell memo to her colleagues:
I believe our role as journalists is to hold the powerful to account.
Actually, your role is to report the news. Accurately.
We are here to question and challenge our political leaders on behalf of our audiences, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative….
When did you ever question and challenge Barack Obama? Or Joe Biden? Did your reporters ever mention the fact that Biden was patently senile? And far from challenging Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign, you edited her interview to make her sound far more coherent than she actually was.
Ed: Read all of this; John’s fisking is well worth the time. Weiss apparently sees the role of “standards and practices” as enforcing actual standards and ensuring practices that result in reliable reporting. The fact that Milne did not is why Milne has to send valedictions to her colleagues.

Marc Caputo at Axios: The White House’s political operation is telling congressional Republicans to hold firm on the government shutdown, citing internal and external polling that show Democrats’ numbers are eroding.
Why it matters: Since the shutdown started Oct. 1, Democrats have boasted that public opinion is on their side. But the trend line appears to be shifting, according to internal White House polling data viewed by Axios. …
Congressional Democrats’ net favorability rating has decreased six percentage points in two weeks, while Republicans’ number ticked up four points.
Ed: Democrats are belatedly learning that government shutdowns don’t work. Republicans learned it the hard way several times. Unfortunately, the damage isn’t long-lasting and likely won’t play much of a role in the midterms, except to paint Democrat leadership as deeply unserious. Schumer will cave after the No Kings rallies this weekend. Or not. The end is inevitable regardless.
