Texas is investigating more than 100 people who may have illegally voted as noncitizens in the 2020 and 2022 elections, state Attorney General Ken Paxton said Tuesday.
He said the majority of the names were registered in Harris County, home of Houston. But he also found cases in three other counties.
“Illegal aliens and foreign nationals must not be allowed to influence Texas elections by casting illegal ballots with impunity. I will not allow it to continue,” Mr. Paxton said.
His announcement follows on the heels of one from last month where he said his office had identified 33 people suspected of voting in the 2024 election as noncitizens.
He credited President Trump with giving states the tools to scour their lists to spot illegal voters.
Homeland Security has made its Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database more accessible to states.
Mr. Paxton did not reveal any details about the names or how they ended up on the lists, nor did he give a breakdown of how many illegal votes are suspected in each election.
More than 11 million Texans cast ballots in the 2020 presidential election.
Noncitizens are forbidden by law from casting ballots in federal elections, and Texas law forbids them from voting in state and local elections.
