Sen. John Fetterman was hospitalized Thursday after falling during a walk near his home in Pennsylvania, his spokesperson said on social media.
The Pennsylvania Democrat suffered facial injuries and was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital “out of an abundance of caution,” the spokesperson said.
“Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries,” the spokesperson said.
Mr. Fetterman experienced a stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign and was hospitalized in 2023 for feeling light-headed.
He is “doing well and receiving routine observation,” and has opted to stay “so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen,” according to the social media post.
Joking about his fall, Mr. Fetterman said, “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!”
On Tuesday, he released his memoir, “Unfettered,” detailing his clinical depression following the stroke he had four days before winning the Pennsylvania Democratic primary in May 2022.
