The Virginia State Police sent out a missing person bulletin this week for a 21-year-old sailor missing from Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia.
The police said Angelina Resendiz was last seen at her barracks at around the morning of May 29. She is a culinary specialist assigned to the USS James E. Williams, the Navy told ABC News.
Ms. Resendiz’s mother, Esmeralda Castle, told WTKR-TV: “My kid is missing, and she wouldn’t just unauthorized leave without permission. Angie’s too scared to miss work; she wouldn’t do that. Something is wrong.”
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service, on whose behalf the state police put out the notice, said Ms. Resendiz is a Hispanic woman standing 5 feet tall, weighing 110 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
NCIS says it believes Ms. Resendiz’s disappearance to be “a credible threat” to her health and safety, the police bulletin said. The agency told ABC News that “out of respect for the investigative process, NCIS will not comment further while the investigation remains ongoing.”
Anyone with information on her disappearance or whereabouts is urged to call NCIS at 877-579-3648.
