On Monday, the design for Donald Trump’s future presidential library was unveiled. It’s a stunning tower near the water in Miami, and the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation plans to raise nearly $1 billion to fund the project through the end of 2027. Some of the funding has already come from the massive settlements he’s collected from fake news media outlets that have defamed him.
Well, it looks like he may have just found another donor.
The Daily Beast published one of the most deliberately deceptive headlines I’ve ever seen. And Trump’s lawyers should be all over this.
The headline reads, “New Evidence Corroborates Claims of Trump Sex Accuser, 13.”
Read that slowly. It sounds like bombshell confirmation that long-standing accusations against the president have finally been proven true. That’s exactly what the Daily Beast wanted you to think. It’s also completely false.
Here’s what actually happened.
Years ago, a woman accused Trump of sexually abusing her at age 13, in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. Those accusations collapsed almost immediately. They weren’t just unsubstantiated — they were built on a foundation of manufactured drama. The whole operation was promoted by Norm Lubow, a former Jerry Springer Show producer who used a fake name to pose as the woman’s publicist. Lubow has a well-documented history of recruiting people to perform fictional scandals for public consumption.
It was a stunt.
So what did the Daily Beast actually uncover? Nothing about Trump. Not a single thing.
“A new investigation has backed up evidence given by a woman who has accused Donald Trump of sexually abusing her when she was 13, according to a report,” the article begins.
Notice how cleverly Trump’s name gets dropped right up front, even though he has nothing to do with what follows.
A couple of paragraphs later, here’s what the article says:
A report from South Carolina newspaper The Post and Courier released on Sunday has now corroborated key personal details given by the woman about a third man she claims also sexually assaulted her—named Jimmy Atkins. Those details are not directly related to her accusations against Trump, but suggest that she was truthful about other matters she raised with the FBI. [emphasis mine]
The corroborated details involve a completely different man. They have nothing to do with Trump. The Daily Beast knew this when it published its headline.

Trump has already demonstrated he’s serious about holding dishonest media accountable. He collected a massive settlement from ABC News after George Stephanopoulos falsely told viewers Trump had been found liable for “rape” in the E. Jean Carroll case. He also hit Paramount and CBS over their notoriously deceptive editing of Kamala Harris’s “60 Minutes” interview — in a failed attempt to make her look less dumb before the election — which resulted in another significant payout.
A deliberately misleading headline designed to connect the president to decades-old, thoroughly debunked sexual abuse allegations isn’t a legal gray area. It’s the kind of editorial decision that invites a lawsuit.
Trump should accept that invitation.
