A Maryland woman is accused of hitting a Virginia State Police vehicle during a multi-state pursuit and faces charges following her arrest in Howard County.
The Virginia State Police started pursuing Naturi Hayes, 24, Monday night. Ms. Hayes, of Elkridge, is accused of ramming a state police cruiser as she crossed into Maryland via the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, according to the Maryland State Police, who ultimately arrested her in Howard County.
After the collision, the Virginia police car hit a concrete barrier after. The trooper behind the wheel was hospitalized and released following treatment. Other troopers continued after Ms. Hayes through Prince George’s County and into Howard County, Maryland State Police said.
Ms. Hayes crashed in Elkridge near Meadowridge Road and Washington Boulevard (U.S. Route 1), tried to run away and was later arrested without further incident.
She is charged with first-degree assault, attempting to elude uniformed police, failing to stop after an accident that caused or involved damage, aggressive and reckless driving, and a slew of traffic charges, the Maryland State Police said.
Ms. Hayes is being held without bond. She is due to appear Friday in a Prince George’s County court for a bond review and again on Jan. 30 for a preliminary hearing.
