Multiple Felon Who Slaughtered Iryna Zarutska Found Incompetent to Stand State Trial – HotAir

Oh, man.

I seriously just want to puke.

…According to that motion, Decarlos Brown Jr. was evaluated on Dec 29th at Central Regional Hospital and a subsequent report found Brown “incapable to proceed”.

Brown’s lawyers are now asking the court to push back a scheduled April 30th hearing for another six months, which would significantly delay the case.

This finding applies to the state murder charge and trial.

This unholy, inhuman creature, with FOURTEEN FELONY ARRESTS  and a five-year stint in prison, who was released time after time after time and allowed to wander the streets of Charlotte looking for his next victim, was not so crazy that he couldn’t be turned loose repeatedly by the courts in Mecklenburg County.

Yet he has ‘no capacity’ to stand trial at the state level for his vicious, monstrous crime.

The monster they nurtured, whom the excreble mayor of Charlotte, Vi Lyles, sympathized with for his mental state rather than mourn the innocent victim.

…That precious, innocent girl and that monster.

That monster whom the progressive, BLM-loving, DEI-mad woke rulers of the Queen City had embraced and are embracing still.

The mayor of Charlotte, another incompetent female of the progressive genus who has had her hooks in the city since 2017 (and shame on voters), is making sure to excuse the killing. Insisting even as horrified viewers watch a slaughtered refugee’s blood drip on their own light rail car, that the city ‘can’t arrest our way out of this.’ These poor, confused souls.

TOXIC EMPATHY

My GOD.

And now our mayor @ViLyles tells us that this brutal killer is like someone suffering from “cancer” and needs our “compassion.”

And Charlotte reelected this woman!

Brown has been in federal custody since being arrested and was ‘evaluated’ last December.

…According to the filing, Brown was evaluated at Central Regional Hospital in December.

A report dated December 29, 2025, concluded he was not capable of moving forward in the state case. A judge has not yet ruled on those findings.

The motion notes that the state could request treatment aimed at restoring Brown’s capacity, but that cannot happen while he remains in federal custody. The document says prosecutors agreed with that assessment.

Newton said the family is willing to accept a delay if it ultimately leads to justice.

“I think they want what the public wants, which is justice,” Newton said. “They’re putting their faith in our justice system and feel very confident in our district attorney and our federal prosecutors that they’re not rushing this and they’re going to get it right.”

As it says, the state case can’t go any further until Brown is released to state custody by the feds. The federal judge has also ordered a psych eval for Brown, and there is no further information on where that stands.

…The Rule 24 hearing scheduled for April 30 was previously delayed in order to give time for a capacity evaluation. Under state law, a defendant is capable to proceed if they can:

  • understand the nature of their charges
  • comprehend their role in court proceedings
  • help their defense in a “rational and reasonable manner.”

Brown’s evaluation report was completed inside Central Regional Hospital on Dec. 29, Roberts wrote. But, even with the results ready, Brown cannot appear in state court. He will remain in federal custody while his federal murder charge is pending, Roberts said in the motion. A U.S. magistrate judge previously ordered a second federal psychiatric exam for Brown’s federal case.

In the aftermath of the horrific execution of the young Ukrainian girl, Charlotte has supposedly upgraded their transit security, although I’m not sure how sincere their efforts were, as the very first improvement is about as ludicrous and worthless a progressive fix as they come.

…Since then, the transit system has implemented several changes. Those changes include new posters explaining how riders can report concerns, installing a system-wide camera, having off‑duty officers provide 24‑hour coverage, providing de‑escalation training for staff, ongoing efforts to add proof‑of‑payment verification, and continued exploration of creating a dedicated CATS police force.

Yeah. Thanks loads for the posters, guys. Those will help the next Iryna a whole bunch.

And there will be one, mark my words.

…How many times do you have to run someone over with your car before a judge decides you’re a danger to the public? In Charlotte, North Carolina, the answer is apparently more than two.

25-year-old Taneza Austin was arrested on April 2nd after allegedly 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭 during an argument. Charged with assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. Bond: $𝟏𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎. She posted it for about $1,000 with a bondsman.

Then she showed up at a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫. When cops gave her clear commands to stop, she allegedly 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫, sending him up and over the hood. Second charge: assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. Bond: $𝟑,𝟎𝟎𝟎. She walked free for $300.

The judge’s “deterrent”? She can only drive between 𝟓 𝐀𝐌 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟔:𝟑𝟎 𝐏𝐌. As the reporter noted: “𝘚𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 5 𝘈𝘔 𝘢𝘯𝘥 6:30 𝘗𝘔.”…

Nothing that had Decarlos Brown wandering the streets after fourteen felonies and prison time has changed.

Nothing in Charlotte has changed but how hard they’ll try to cover up the next heinous slaughter like they did when word of Zarutska’s ghastly murder leaked, followed by the nightmare of the transit car’s surveillance video.

The feds had better follow through on this because Mecklenburg County will not.

It just makes you sick to your stomach.
