MN Democrats WANT Trump to Invoke Insurrection Act – HotAir

It has come to this: I have concluded that Minnesota Democrats have decided that the best way to get out of the massive fraud scandal is to provoke a confrontation with Trump that is so severe that the president will almost HAVE to invoke the insurrection act.

I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out.

First things first: Democrats here in Minnesota haven’t just tolerated the attacks on ICE. They have been helping to coordinate them. That means collecting funds to keep the harassment of ICE going, actually organizing local groups to become members of “response teams” that block ICE vehicles, surround ICE agents as they do their work, and in some cases, escalate to the point of throwing rocks at and vandalizing ICE vehicles.

Our Lieutenant Governor has urged people to go out and “put their bodies on the line,” and once one of these encounters escalated to the point of a tragic death, they amped up the temperature to sun-like levels of rage.

Tim Walz declared ‘war” on the federal government, and suggested he might call out the National Guard to “protect” Minnesotans against “rogue” federal agents. Mayor Frey has been defending acts of violence and impeding federal officers because Minnesotans “want to protect their neighbors.”

Well, yesterday afternoon a bunch of “neighbors” came out and attacked ice agents with weapons as they were arresting a Venezuelan gang member who, himself, attacked those agents as well. He was shot in the leg in the altercation.

I think we just witnessed Tim Walz incite an insurrection. He is trying to paint ICE as the equivalent to the Gestapo, claiming they are hunting down all “people of color” and “asking for papers”.

This is EXTREMELY dangerous stuff. Not only is he lying about what’s happening, but not once did he tell his constituents to stay out of the way of federal law enforcement officers. He is actively encouraging them to obstruct ICE agents, as a means to cover up the massive fraud and criminality in his state.

This is 1860’s type stuff we are dealing with here, and you can see it on Walz’s face, especially at the end. He knows the severity of what he just did.

The Dems are in open rebellion against the Trump administration, while harboring illegal aliens in their Unconstitutional “sanctuary cities”, which they use to steal elections. This is irregular warfare.

The governor and the mayor stoked outrage before anybody had any idea what happened or who was involved. They held press conferences, blamed ICE, and demanded that ICE leave so our criminal “neighbors” will be fine. It doesn’t matter that those neighbors are violent felons in many cases; what matters is that they are clients of the Democrats.

Frey has already endorsed attacking ICE, implying that at least a certain level of non-life-threatening injuries inflicted on ICE is excusable, and now Minneapolis State Senator—my State Senator, as it happens—flat out says that attacking federal law enforcement is just neighborliness.

As Ed wrote, Trump is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act, and the response is to declare open season on ICE. Already, the Minneapolis police have been told not to do crowd control until there is actual violence, were told to stand down as rioters attacked hotels where they believed ICE agents were staying, and now both Mayor Frey and Senator Bobby Joe Champion have each said that attacking ICE is Minnesota Nice.

A week ago Walz said he didn’t want to give Trump an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act, and asked people to be calm.

He’s changed his tune quite a bit. Now he is actively inciting violence to “protect” Minnesota values.

He will have plenty of help getting that violence. There are hundreds or likely thousands already mobilized.

🚨 Radical Organizer Invokes Minneapolis Burning the 3rd Precinct and Claims “Every Neighborhood” Now Has Rapid Response Groups to Confront ICE

On tonight’s Scholars for Social Justice call, Noah Schumacher, a Minneapolis organizer with the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice, framed Minneapolis as a model of escalation, explicitly invoking the burning of the Third Precinct after George Floyd’s murder.

“This is the same city that burned down, that burned down the 3rd precinct, after, after George Floyd was murdered.”

He then claimed a metro-wide infrastructure of “rapid response groups” now exists in every neighborhood across Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the suburbs, with the stated purpose of monitoring ICE activity and mobilizing to “confront” agents.

“Every neighborhood in Minneapolis, every neighborhood in St. Paul, every neighborhood in the surrounding suburbs… has formed rapid response groups.”

“These groups have dedicated community members reporting on ICE activity so that people can respond as quickly as possible to observe, document, and confront these ICE agents.”

Schumacher did not present this as reform politics. He described it as revolutionary organizing aimed at power, explicitly rejecting reform as the goal.

“We are a revolutionary organization. Our focus is political power.”

“[There is] no reforming the police or reforming ICE.”

He also appeared wearing a National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression shirt, which is worth flagging as his organization is an affiliate of NAARPR.

Schumacher praised how Minneapolis has a deep bench of experienced activists and that is why this kind of mobilization is possible.

“There’s a lot of seasoned, experienced organizers in Minneapolis. There’s a strong activist culture in Minneapolis, and so people are showing up and getting in the streets, and it’s a beautiful thing to see.”

All of these people are being activated. Schumacher is associated with several left-wing groups, which are in turn associated with many others, some of which are state-funded or associated with leftist unions like SEIU, which in turn are allied with DFL politicians. It is a complex web of connections, but they all lead back to the top Democratic politicians in the state.

They seem to want violent confrontations. They are encouraging them. Some of them are justifying the use of deadly force against ICE agents.

Hence, they want the Insurrection Act. They are modern-day Confederates.
