MERCAZ USA Applauds Historic Victory for Conservative Movement, Reaffirms Commitment to Election Integrity
NEW YORK – Following last night’s release of the preliminary vote totals from the American Zionist Movement, MERCAZ USA celebrates a successful campaign for the World Zionist Congress. In a high-turnout and high-stakes election, MERCAZ USA stands to hold or gain seats in the upcoming congress, having nearly doubled its vote total from the previous cycle.
While the vote counts are finalized, the mandate counts are not yet public because multiple slates face potential sanctions for cheating. Implementing such sanctions sends a clear message that cheating will not be tolerated or rewarded.
In a statement, MERCAZ USA applauds historic turnout and results, and upholds its commitment to address voter fraud:
“The election results are a historic victory for MERCAZ USA and the Conservative/Masorti Movement. These results are a testament to the power and promise of the Conservative/Masorti movement coming together to make their voices heard and advance our core values of democracy, pluralism and inclusion.
“MERCAZ USA takes seriously our responsibility to protect the integrity of the World Zionist Congress elections as a long-time member of the Area Election Committee. When fraud affects nearly 20,000 votes, potentially corrupting how $1 billion annually serves Jewish communities, that simply cannot be addressed without meaningful consequences. There is a place for robust debate at the World Zionist Congress, but there is no place for systematic fraud. We will continue to fight against the fraud and corruption in this election to ensure appropriate accountability.”
