Mamdani Madness, 36 Hours Later – HotAir

It hasn’t even been two full days since polls closed in New York City, so the full blossoming of the Mamdani effect is far from being fully witnessed. But what the heck. Let’s take a peek in on parts of Gotham and see how things going.

As for Zohran Mamdani himself, it didn’t take more than an hour when it became official he would be the next resident of Gracie Mansion that the Mayor-Elect gave an angry acceptance speech. There were plenty of lowlights all throughout his address, but here are just some of the bits that will cause a lot of New Yorkers to consider what other environs around the country offer in the way of housing, employment, and governance not run by an Islamist terrorist sympathizer who also is an avowed Communist.

That Big C word gets thrown around a lot, but when you deliver lines like these, it’s hard to call it anything different.

We’re several light years away, unfortunately, from the days of Ronald Reagan saying the nine most dangerous words in the English language are, “We’re The Federal Government And We’re Here To Help.”

Mamdani repeatedly cited fondly one of his apparent historical heroes, Eugene Debs, the Socialist Party crank in the early 20th Century who ran for president, almost in Pat Paulsenesque fashion, five times. But Mamdani also referred to another person of which he seems to hold in high esteem, Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru, of course, was also a Marxist who crushed Hindus in India at every turn and did everything in his power to empower jihadis.

How overheated was Mamdani’s acceptance speech rhetoric? It upset former Barack Obama czar Van Jones, who in his day was considered to be the most radical leftist to ever hold a position in the White House in the modern era. Mamdani went too far even for Van Jones.

At several times during his speech, Comrade Mamdani also signaled that he is a Nazi. I know he’s anti-Semitic, but until I saw him give the Nazi salute multiple times, I didn’t realize he was also a fan of pre-World War II German politics.

What’s that, you say? That wasn’t a Nazi salute he gave repeatedly? That’s not how the media treated Elon Musk giving the exact same gesture at Donald Trump’s Inauguration address. If Musk was called a Nazi once by Resistance media and the elected political left in this country, he was called it a thousand times for weeks. I can only operate on one rule. If that arm motion is a Nazi salute for Elon, then it’s Springtime for Zohran in Germany as well.

Mr. ‘Seize The Means Of Production-Elect’ also said he wanted to go after President Trump…by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power.

Glenn Beck asks quite correctly, what are those means? Capitalism? I would add free and fair elections? What exactly is he planning on dismantling from his new perch in Gracie Mansion?

It was all smiles at Mamdani HQ when the call for Mamdani was made. Among the first people to find a television camera? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and she had a warning for anyone, *coughing*, Chuck Schumer, *more coughing*, in her way.

There were lots of other happy lunatics sharing the good news that New York City has fallen. Remember Jennifer Welch, the podcaster who interviewed former Biden Press Secretary and MSNBC host Jen Psaki and cheered on the notion that Usha Vance, wife of Vice-President J.D. Vance, was somehow trapped in a domestic abuse marriage and needed to blink four times to be rescued? She was there to celebrate with fervent anti-Semite Mehdi Hasan.

Mahmoud Khalil, the American-hating and Jew-hating Columbia protester here on the 40-year student visa plan, was just thrilled with the results.

Hasan Piker, the podcast streamer and Mamdani adviser also showed up to celebrate…and mourn the Soviet Union Communists losing the Cold War.

Tragically not able to join the festivities in person, but celebrating from afar in spirit, was ISIS.

On the streets of New York Tuesday night, this was the enthusiastic reaction.

Sharia Law starts how, eh? I wonder how provocative they’ll look in burqas.

As bad as Tuesday’s triumph for Communist terrorist sympathizers was to the rest of us, Tuesday’s triumph led very quickly into Wednesday’s walkback. After a quick power lunch with the 2028 Democratic presidential ticket,

the Backpedaler-Elect picked a couple of different venues with which to remind people that when he said everything will be free last week, what he really meant to say was, “It’s not really going to be free, and I could really use some money right now to deliver on my promise to deliver not-quite-free stuff.”

And standing in front of his five-woman transition team, Mamdani once again passed around the hat.

If you could cross Baghdad Bob and the Sham-Wow salesman, you’d get Zohran Mamdani.

How are other New Yorkers reacting to the nightmare facing them for the next four years? If they’re staying, they know they’re screwed. Others are bolting.

How are shopkeepers reacting to the good news? About as you would expect.

And it won’t be just Tony that leaves. Mortgage Professional America, a trade publication of real estate brokers, warned the mass exodus may have already begun

Affluent New Yorkers concerned about the upcoming election—with Zohran Mamdani leading in the polls—are driving a surge in demand for suburban markets within commuting distance to the city,” Fisher said. “Areas like Greenwich, Darien, and New Canaan, Connecticut, are seeing prices climb rapidly as high-income buyers look to relocate in anticipation of potential tax increases and policy changes.”

Compass agents Zach and Heather Harrison noted that pending home sales in Westchester are up approximately 15% from a year ago and 25% from midsummer. They said high-net-worth buyers from Manhattan and Brooklyn are making sight-unseen offers well above the asking price. Local agents have termed the surge the “Mamdani effect.”

On a more individual level, NYC Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker, who also happens to be Jewish, handed in his resignation. He’s seen and hear enough

He’s not nearly the only one bailing out. Parents all over the city began to pull their kids out of schools

Tennessee Governor Bill Leigh rolled out the welcome mat to people smart enough to flee what’s coming.

Houston, Texas and Volusia County, Florida law enforcement are openly bidding against each other online for the blue flight expected out of NYPD.

As for New York City’s growing Muslim population? It’s Go time.

The New Yorker previewed its cover art for next week’s edition.

There’s only one person depicted that’s obviously Jewish, and Mamdani literally has his back to him. Quite the imagery. Meanwhile, on the actual subway, this subdued anecdotal report.

The 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in Lower Manhattan (as well as Washington, D.C. and the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania) will take place in 2026 during Mamdani’s first year in office. It’s going to be quite the experience to solemly hear the names read out loud and the bell being run for each victim at the same time the call to prayer sirens wail from the mosques.

Back in July, 2005, Donald Trump, then a celebrity host of The Apprentice and in his element as a New York City real estate developer, testified to a Senate Committee on the boondoggle that was the United Nations building refurbishment. Trump had made a bid to do the work, it wasn’t taken, and instead the cost overruns ballooned and the entire project was corrupted beyond belief. Senators wanted to get to the bottom of it all and invited Trump to speak, and it was among the finest 30 minutes of testimony you’ll ever watch. But the future president made one statement that when applied to the election Tuesday night, is just as prophetic.

If things get real dicey, New Yorkers, you can always look for the Kurt Russell-looking fellow with the eye patch. He may be your last chance to escape from New York.
