Keith Olbermann Demonstrates His Comedic Talent – HotAir

I am beginning to suspect that Keith Olbermann is not as unhinged as he appears to be.

Instead, I think he is doing performance art with the intent to be funny. He is so over-the-top, so absurd, so hateful, and so deranged in his rants that literally nobody sane could believe anything he says.

So it must be absurdist humor, right?

As liberals broke out into wild celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, with doctors, school teachers, academics, and even judges whooping it up and calling for more assassinations, Olbermann looks into the camera and declares that Donald Trump is the major cause of political violence in this country.

Now perhaps he really does agree that speaking one’s mind, if what you say is contrary to the Narrative™, makes you a legitimate target for assassination. But isn’t it more likely that he is doing a comedic act? Is this a performance meant to be interpreted as sarcasm?

That’s what I saw when this “disinformation expert” went on MSNBC to say that Democrats weren’t celebrating Kirk’s murder.

I guffawed. Truly, I did, if only in my head. Nobody with an IQ above room temperature believes that, so it must be a joke.

I keep waiting for the people making absurd claims that the assassination was about love, or that conservatives did it, or that we may never know the motive, or that almost all political violence is right-wing, to pop up and declare that they were just kidding. All these absurdities must be obvious sarcasm, right? Could Montel Williams really believe that Tyler Robinson was part of a Romeo and Juliet story?

Or, perhaps, an ABC correspondent believe that Tyler Robinson was only protecting his lover?

It must be comedy. Not very good comedy, but who believes that the left can meme well? Conservatives can meme, but not liberals:

The only alternative to seeing all this as comedy is to realize that these people are purveyors of pure propaganda, and while I have long said that, I really think we should consider the possibility that our entire media ecosystem is filled with really awful comedians who make Jimmy Kimmel seem ever-so-mildly amusing.

Unless I am wrong that these people are doing absurdist comedy, the only alternative explanation is that they are horrible people.
