Iran Protests Prove That Amnesty Intl, European Governments, Et AL, Are Not Freedom’s Friends – HotAir

Silence might be golden, as the old adage says. But that’s not the color that comes to my mind when I hear the sound of it, and witness the social media version from the virtue-signaling progressive titans of the world.

The color of their silence reeks more of a deep, hypocritical, BS brown.

In the United Kingdom, there has been silence from that true friend of Islam, the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer.

Starmer’s craven muteness has been described as ‘shocking,’ but I’m assuming that’s only because whoever says that in public could wind up with Starmertrooper’s in their front door video asking to be let inside for one of those infamous ‘We saw you say on social media‘ interviews.

Starmer’s silence on Iran is shocking

All this is not happening in secret but in plain sight, which is why the lack of robust action and condemnation by Starmer’s feeble Government is shocking. Senior figures in the Labour Government seem unwilling and incapable of stepping up.

Starmer and Lord Hermer, his Attorney General, are paralysed by their obsession with Left-wing interpretations of international law and Labour’s Left-wing backbenchers which is why they failed to back the US air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

As of eight hours ago, the milquetoast minister was still holding fast to his silence…

…although he had apparently found inspiration in the mullah’s handling of the protesters’ use of social media and decided to follow suit.

The ‘popular with only 16% of Brits’ Starmer is advocating for banning X.

I WONDER WHY?

In the meantime, the British state media organ has only been slightly less mute. When it did open its orifice a few days ago to comment briefly on the growing Iranian freedom protests, it did so with an obvious mullah sort of tilt to their piece.

It took until last night for the BBC to actually ‘report’ on the protests.

It took until this afternoon, our time, for Sir Keir, the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, and the elfin Emmanuel Macron of France to notice bodies in the streets and issue a gentle rebuke to the regime.

STOP DOING THAT

Of course, they Xweeted it to a country in turmoil, a full day after the authoritarian Islamic rulers who are doing the killing shut the innerwebs down.

What one X poster says about the BBC could well hold for the triumvirate of Euro-weenie who so boldly issued that warning – they are all in the thrall of their Islamist masters.

And as such are terrified to whisper a word against them.

Worthless, feckless, posturing twits.

The same can be said for the non-governmental agencies that have raped the treasuries of so many countries, delivered so little, and colluded with some of the most notorious human rights abusers on this earth. One of the worst offenders, and one of the first to loudly condemn any United States action in the name of freedom, is Amnesty International. Where were they, say, on the New Year, as these protests fired up?

Okay, Maybe they weren’t aware the protests were as big and serious as they turned out to be. We have seen Iran erupt before, and it always ended badly.

There was one note that they were ‘alarmed’ by reports of protestors being killed. That was it on the main Amnesty X feed. Lots of rainbow crap, though.

And man, are they pissed about Venezuela.

There’s a single reXweet of an Amnesty Iran post on the 6th, one more on the 7th – man, are they pissed about ICE enforcement and the shooting in Minnesota! – and then they want the innerwebs turned back on.

Yay, guys – go all out.

For as much as an entire country has courageously risen up to throw off the yoke of Islamic tyranny, you would think the main Amnesty X feed would be buried in Iran videos and virtuous pronouncements of ‘let those people go!’

But it’s not. Instead of trumpeting for freedom, it’s a TDS-infected plague ward, with multiple Xweets bitching about the administration yanking NGO funds.

…These moves don’t just isolate the USA, they weaken the entire international system designed to protect human rights, peace, and justice.

At a time when the world faces unprecedented challenges – from climate change to armed conflicts – retreating from multilateralism is reckless and dangerous.

We need more cooperation, not less. @Amnesty International calls on the USA to reverse course and recommit to global responsibility. Human rights cannot thrive in isolation.

What a raging case of incurable virtue-signaling, progressive bile.

Purge your spleen and advocate unceasingly for the Iranians, for crying out loud, or turn your phony baloney Crusader Rabbit card in.

I know that this time, possibly being the real thing, is so horrible a prospect to contemplate that they can’t even.

But once in a blue moon, it would help if these LARPers acted like they meant what their very expensive business cards say on the front of them, be it ‘news,’ ‘journalist,’ ‘defending human rights,’ or ‘leader.’

At least we know we’ve got the ‘defender of the FREE world’ in our corner.

That guy steps up, and you never have to hear the sound of silence, believe me.
