Here’s What Bluesky is Saying About Chuck Schumer – HotAir

I almost feel sorry for Sen. Chuck Schumer. His life has turned into a Greek tragedy where, no matter what he does, he winds up at the same predestined, unpleasant end.

As we all remember, Schumer caved on the first shutdown back in March of this year. He (correctly) reasoned that a shutdown would help Republicans more than it did Democrats. And the result was instant outrage and a demand that he step down.

The Senate minority leader on Thursday backed away from the shutdown confrontation that many liberal voters and activist leaders had been pushing for — arguing that closing the government would only empower President Donald Trump and billionaire ally Elon Musk in their bureaucracy-slashing campaign.

That decision sent shockwaves through the left and had many in their ranks seething at a top party leader who had sought to win them over in recent years.

Ezra Levin, the co-executive director of the liberal grassroots organization Indivisible, quickly dubbed it the “Schumer surrender.”

“I guess we’ll find out to what extent Schumer is leading the party into irrelevance,” he said in an interview, adding that his decision “tells me maybe he’s lost a step.”

Schumer came out of that experience vowing to never again disappoint the base. And as fate would have it he would get another chance. Democrats decided to shut down the government on Oct. 1 with Schumer promising they would keep it going until Republicans agreed to address their concerns over Obamacare subsidies.

But yesterday, a group of moderates who had been meeting for a few weeks made the decision for Schumer. They crossed the aisle and reopened the government. To be clear, Schumer himself did not vote to reopen but he’s being blamed for it nonetheless. Once again, people on the left are calling for his head

Congressional Democrats are livid after a handful of their Senate colleagues voted Sunday to advance the House-passed stopgap and end the government shutdown.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called it a mistake. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) called it “a very bad night.” And Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Ca.) and Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of being ineffective and called for his removal.

“If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?” Khanna said in a post on X following the vote…

Schumer on Sunday vowed to “keep fighting.” He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“Chuck Schumer should go … he’s no longer capable of leading the Democratic Party.” “I am an establishment Democrat and I’m here to say that Bernie Sanders is much more in line with where I and many other Democrats are today than Chuck Schumer is.”

What even is the point of Chuck Schumer anymore? The Democratic rank-and-file are pro-Palestine. The New York Democratic establishment has imploded. Even Third Way is signaling they’re done with his Senate leadership.

Chuck Schumer? Don’t mind if I do

Chuck Schumer has tested positive for Republican boot licking.

Chuck Schumer must go, and to ensure this we need to put pressure on all of the Democrats in the Senate. Every single one of them — regardless how they voted last night.

again, if chuck schumer wants to energize Ds for the fight ahead, the absolute best thing he could do is resign.

Here’s Maine Senate candidate (and Nazi tattoo fan) Graham Platner saying, “This happened because Chuck Schumer failed in his job yet again.”

Chuck Schumer should step down.

But Schumer voted no. Doesn’t that matter?

I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Chuck Schumer must resign. He’s helping Trump destroy the country.

Chuck Schumer is nothing more than a human strongly worded letter, and he must go. Say it loud.

Even Canadians want him gone.

Chuck Schumer and the shameful eight just destroyed any chance they had of standing up to a tyrant. What they proved today is simple: Donald Trump doesn’t need strategy — just cruelty.

I’m leaving out the posts full of four-letter-words, some of which are entertaining. But the theme is the same, Chuck Schumer delenda est.

We HAD them on the ropes! Chuck Schumer needs to step down.

The left-wing media types can’t believe it.

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You’ve changed the story from “GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who’s destroying his party” to “Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump’s strength to take a stand and protect Americans”

We all know where this is leading. Sen. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

It is time for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to primary Chuck Schumer. America has had it with leadership who fails to meet the moment. We need you @aoc.bsky.social This hypothetical conversation must end.

Schumer isn’t up for reelection next year so angry Dems are going to have to wait until 2028 for revenge.

So there you have it. When he caved to avoid a shutdown he was blamed and hated. When he led the longest shutdown in history and voted no as moderated ended it, he was blamed and hated. There’s just no upside to being Chuck Schumer anymore.

Editor’s Note: After more than 40 days of screwing Americans, a few Dems have finally caved. The Schumer Shutdown was never about principle—just inflicting pain for political points.
