Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is headed to Iowa.
The term-limited Republican is set to headline the Republican Party of Iowa’s annual Lincoln Dinner on July 17 in Des Moines.
The appearance will add to the speculation that Mr. Youngkin, a former businessman, is considering running for the 2028 GOP presidential nomination.
Iowa has traditionally been the first stop on the Republican Party’s nomination calendar.
The 58-year-old Mr. Youngkin assumed office in 2022 after defeating former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, in a high-profile contest.
The Virginia Constitution bars a governor from serving consecutive four-year terms.
Vice President J.D. Vance is widely considered the front-runner for the 2028 Republican nomination, where he would be able to lean into the four years he spent as President Trump’s sidekick.
