First lady Melania Trump releases audiobook with help from artificial intelligence

First lady Melania Trump is releasing an audiobook of her memoir using artificial intelligence and will feature multiple foreign languages.

She called it “a new era in publishing” in a social media post Thursday.

“I am honored to bring you Melania — The AI Audiobook — narrated entirely using artificial intelligence in my own voice. Let the future of publishing begin,” she wrote.

On her website, it says the book’s narrator is an AI-generated replica of the first lady’s voice created by ElevenLabs “under Mrs. Trump’s direction and supervision.”

“My story. My perspective. The truth,” the voice can be heard saying in a promotional clip in the social media post.

Mrs. Trump’s memoir came out last year ahead of Election Day. An English version of the audiobook is available for $25, and other languages will be released in the future.

Melania” is Mrs. Trump’s first book.

The first lady warned of the use of AI while at the White House earlier this week when she appeared with President Trump to sign the “Take It Down Act,” a law that aims to crack down on revenge porn.

She said artificial intelligence and social media “are the digital candy for the next generation — sweet, addictive and engineered to have an impact on the cognitive development of our children.”

“But unlike sugar these new technologies can be weaponized, shape beliefs and, sadly, affect emotions and even be deadly.”
