Dems Shriek ELEVENTY! Republicans' 'Destroyed Healthcare in This Country' – HotAir

I am so over these performative liars that I just can’t EVEN with them. 

So, this is going to be a Beege rant, not the well-researched tour de force that my eminent colleagues would do a much better job with, as far as accuracy and the history of the entire Obamacare debacle.





I just know I’m mad and sick of hearing from these tools, and that’s that.

The plain truth of the matter is that not a single Republican voted for Obamacare fifteen years ago. Not one.

  • March 21, 2010: The House passed the bill with a 219–212 vote after the Senate passed its version in December 2009.
  • Vote breakdown: 34 House Democrats joined all 178 Republicans in voting against the bill.
  • December 24, 2009: The Senate passed its version of the bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, by a vote of 60–39.
  • Vote breakdown: All 60 Democrats voted yes, while all 39 Republicans voted no.

One of the most infamous statements in American political history came out of those votes.

And what was in it was meant to be incomprehensible by design, as was the obfuscation that went into its promotion and passage.

…He bragged that “lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” calling the American voter “stupid.”

This wasn’t health reform — it was a calculated scam to deceive and drain the public.

You were robbed, deceived, blackmailed, and extorted by Jonathan Gruber, Barack Obama, and John Roberts — and yes, it’s all on tape.





And the Lie of the Year.

Of the next decade and a half. I mean, DIS GUY.

This jacked-up legislative spawn has always been the Democrats’ baby, ever since birth and they still own it, lock, stock and barrel.

Republicans have most definitely tried, contrary to Marjorie Taylor Green’s recent accusations against Speaker Johnson, to ‘repeal and replace,’ but have not had sufficient numbers or firepower to overcome the majority needed for a clear victory or the turncoat backstabbing of members of their own party.

The most memorable example of that was John McCain’s bitter moment of pollice verso triumph in 2017.

…The Senate has tried to pass multiple versions of repeal: repeal and replace, a straight repeal and Friday’s bare-bones repeal, but none garnered the support of 50 Republicans.

…“We told our constituents we would vote that way and when the moment came, the moment came, most of us did,” he said.

“This is clearly a disappointment,” McConnell added. “It’s time to move on.”

The return of McCain to Washington after a brain cancer diagnosis added drama to the already tense proceedings. It was his vote — the 50th — that allowed Republicans begin debating the measure.

McCain gave a heartfelt speech upon his return to the Senate on Tuesday, decrying the rise of partisanship. And it was McCain who put an end to the partisan repeal effort.

…McCain went back to his desk and sat after casting his “no” vote. He eventually made his way to the Democrats’ side of the chamber and was greeted with hugs and cheers.





Little did anyone know at the time that the repellent and treacherous McCain had actually coordinated the drama with Democrats beforehand.

Senator Amy Klobuchar still has a Star Tribune article boasting about it on her Senate website.

WAIT FOR THE SHOW

Just before he cast the deciding vote on the Senate’s latest health care repeal bill, Sen. John McCain turned and whispered something in Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s ear: “I’m going to vote ‘no.’ ”

It was past 1 a.m. Friday and weary senators had gathered in the chamber, waiting for the roll call. Vice President Mike Pence was walking around the Senate floor, ready to break the anticipated 50-50 tie if Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins joined every Senate Democrat in voting against the so-called “skinny repeal” of select parts of the Affordable Care Act.

“Tensions were high; people had been up late into the night. No one quite knew what he was going to do,” Klobuchar said of McCain.

Then, Klobuchar said, he “came over to our group and I gave him a hug and he whispered, ‘I’m voting no.’ ”

McCain had doggedly avoided tipping his hand. Although he’d railed against the process that created the latest Obamacare repeal bill — crafted behind closed doors and pushed to a vote without any real debate — most assumed he would cast a “yes” vote, hoping the bill could be fixed in conference committee.

“Wait for the show,” McCain told reporters as he walked toward the Senate chamber , his face bruised and bloodied from recent surgery.





That was the last serious challenge to the repealing and replacing law, and it went down in flames thanks to the grandstanding turncoat from Arizona.

Justice Roberts had cut the legs out from under the only other option.

The current subsidies are COVID leftovers voted in by, again, Democrats. They go directly to insurance companies and were, in theory, never meant to be permanent. In fact, they were twilighted in the Democrats’ legislation, thinking they’d be in power to extend them perpetually for their big-time donors. The old Mafia axiom ‘one hand washes the other’ should come to mind.

Part of the agreement for the Democrats caving on the Schumer Shutdown was an up or down vote on something called ‘Baldwin Amendment’ to extend the subsidies yet another year. This way, they could pretend they put up a fight.

STUNNING, BRAVE





The vote failed 53-47.

And now Democrats are screaming holy hell about premiums shooting through the roof even more than the 220%+ that they already have, because?

REPUBLICANS DESTROYED HEALTH CARE IN THIS COUNTRY

Whatever happened to the ‘Now you can offer your family healthcare for less than the cost of your cable bill’ promise?

Republicans had nothing to do with any of this.

70% of Americans were happy with their health insurance when Democrats jammed this through on the back of their lies.

Now, insurance companies are the only happy ones. $40B in healthcare subsidies is a lotta cha-ching on the line.





WHY DID REPUBLICANS DO THIS TO US?

…Democrats in 2021 and 2022 voted to make the expanded Obamacare subsidies temporary, not permanent.

American Rescue Plan Act (2021) In 2021, Democrats used the American Rescue Plan to increase the amount and expand the eligibility for premium tax credits (subsidies) under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The subsidies were set to expire at the end of 2022.

Inflation Reduction Act (2022) In 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act was passed, which included a provision that extended the enhanced subsidies for an additional three years.

Every Democrat in Congress voted to make these subsidies expire at the end of 2025.

And for once – FOR ONCE – Republicans didn’t squish, and give the Dems another year to pull this same crap, and right before Congressional elections, too.

Let them figure it out. Better yet, let them explain it.

Someone better call a WAAHMBULANCE.
