A bomb threat Tuesday at LaGuardia Airport in New York City caused a Delta Air Lines flight to deplane before it could take off for Minneapolis.
Delta Flight 2313 was set to leave when crew members on board notified authorities about the threat, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department told the New York Post.
“We got boarded, the plane went a little way down the runway. Stopped for about 40 minutes, and then we were told there was a security issue,” Minneapolis’ KMSP-TV personality Jason Matheson, a passenger on the plane, said on social media.
Delta told New York’s WPIX that “prior to departure from New York LaGuardia (LGA), customers on Delta Flight 2313 to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) were deplaned and transported back to the terminal due to a potential security concern.”
Flight 2313 and its passengers finally took off 12 hours later.
The plane landed safely at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to FlightAware.
The LaGuardia incident came just hours after an arriving flight was cordoned off at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
A caller made a threat against a United Airlines flight arriving from Houston Tuesday morning, demanding $500,000 in cryptocurrency. The FBI’s Washington Field Office said no hazards were found on the aircraft.
