Conservative icon Charlie Kirk was shot to death on Wednesday during an appearance at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
A suspect has not been caught in the assassination, so we know at least one coward willing to kill to intimidate the rest of us is still a threat.
Who knows how many others are out there like him?
On Thursday, conservative commentator Matt Walsh took to his X page to make it clear he would not be intimidated by the threat of the left’s escalating violence.
Like Kirk, Walsh is well-known in conservative circles for saying the quiet parts out loud, as he did earlier in the week regarding a brutal murder in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a series of posts Wednesday, he took a defiant stance against the threat of him being the next target, even as people across X and the trash-heap social media platform known as Bluesky hinted they wanted him killed.
After one X user shared a collage of screen shots of the left-wing threats against high-profile conservatives — a list Walsh’s name was on — he commented, “That’s okay. I am proud to be hated by these rodents.”

He also had a response to one X user who posted, “No prominent conservative in America can now appear in a public place without fear of being shot. That is the blunt truth of the matter.”
Walsh shared the post and commented, “And that is exactly why we must continue to appear in public.”

Walsh was especially defiant in a third post.
He shared screen shots of four threats on his life.
“A lot of concerned people are sending me these screen shots (and dozens more). I appreciate their concern,” he wrote. “But I’m not surprised and I won’t be going into hiding. We have to be louder and bolder now than ever. Or else the demons who killed Charlie win. And they cannot win.”

Walsh is right.
The American left is a death cult. But now more than ever, conservatives must speak our opinions and wear our faith loudly.
One of the brightest figures in American political discourse was taken out Wednesday for having the backbone to travel around the country and talk to people.
Kirk was never afraid, and if he was, he didn’t show it. He just showed up, day after day.
That’s not to say conservatives should not be vigilant.
The left took Kirk’s life. Last year, they tried it twice with President Donald Trump.
It is natural to want to seek the safety of solitude, to stay out of places where the next lunatic might act out on their demonic worldview.
But now more than ever, we have to combat their hate by being who we are and not letting them win.
Left-wing terrorists — and they are terrorists — will win if we give them an inch.
In the hours since the murder of Kirk, millions of people are grappling with complex emotions, and the answers regarding what comes next are not there yet.
For now, we lean on our faith, speak what is in our hearts, and we proudly share the values Kirk so eloquently espoused in hostile territory.
No one will ever do it better than him, but if we can collectively try to emulate even a fraction of Kirk’s bravery and intellect — and that includes all of us — then we honor him and can decline participating in the kind of self-censorship these cretins would love to see.
As Walsh noted, we can’t give them an inch.
