Chuck Norris hospitalized in Hawaii after medical emergency

Action star Chuck Norris has been hospitalized in Hawaii following a medical emergency, according to TMZ, which first reported the news Thursday.

Sources told the outlet that the emergency occurred within the last 24 hours on the island of Kauai. The specific nature of the incident has not been disclosed, though Mr. Norris, 86, is said to be in good spirits. A friend of the actor’s was reportedly on the phone with him Wednesday, the day before the hospitalization was reported, and said he was in good spirits and cracking jokes at the time.

The timing is striking given how recently Mr. Norris had been publicly active. Just nine days ago, on his birthday, March 10, he posted a video to social media of himself sparring with a trainer in Kauai, where he had been training in the days leading up to the hospitalization. A holder of black belts in karate, taekwondo, tang soo do and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Mr. Norris has remained physically active well into his 80s.

The “Walker, Texas Ranger” star has been largely semi-retired from acting in recent years, though he has continued to work periodically. He had a cameo in “Hawaii Five-0” in 2020 and a lead role in the 2024 science-fiction action film “Agent Recon.” He is also set to appear as himself this year in the Australian action comedy “Zombie Plane,” alongside Vanilla Ice and Sophie Monk.

The story is developing.
