Christmas Is Coming and German Jihadis Are Stirring – HotAir

If I were, say, a French or German citizen, I think I would be most pissed off at the illegal foreign savages who’ve flooded my country for what they’ve done to the most treasured rituals of my culture.

What my country’s governments have allowed to happen because of these invaders they’ve thrown open the gates to and coddled shamelessly at the expense of their own citizens, I guess I should say.

The legendary Christmas Markets of Europe always come to mind first. How sprawling, open-air town square events, which once captured the attention of the whole city and drew visitors from all over the world to share in the magic of the season, have now become like militarized camps to access, if they’re even being held at all.

The smaller towns can’t afford the security required to sort of keep people safe. The constant Polizei patrols ever watchful for knife-wielding grannies suck up resources they do not have to spare.

FORTRESS CHRISTMAS MARKET

There are no guarantees of complete security. And often the cost to come close is simply too much to bear.

Whatever hopes Europeans had for a terror-free holiday season have again started poorly. German police in Berlin have announced the arrest of a 22-year-old Syrian with jihadi aspirations.

Well. Crap.

German authorities said a 22-year-old Syrian man was arrested in Berlin on Saturday on suspicion of preparing a “jihadi” attack.

The suspect was planning “a jihadi-motivated attack,” according to a spokesman for Berlin prosecutors. A unit of the police Special Task Force (SEK) had been deployed to take the man into custody.

…He said in a statement that the Syrian had been in Germany since 2023 and that his activities suggested preparations for an attack, were detected in time.”

Iris Spranger, Interior Minister for the city-state of Berlin, said the case showed “we are extremely watchful in cooperation with the security authorities for the security of people in the capital.”

Equipment suitable for making a bomb was seized following a search by special police units of three Berlin residential addresses linked to the suspect, officials said.

Apparently, this young newcomer hadn’t assimilated into German culture in the least, but he sure knew his way around the city. He had several addresses he was using to store and stage his gathered jihadi goodies at, as well as share his ISIS videos and music from.

The more you read about the lad, the more it seems like he never meant to be German to begin with. How ’bout them apples?

…The man is accused of planning to use a homemade explosive against targets in Germany and law enforcement stated that he already required several suitable components to make such a device.

According to ARD terrorism expert Holger Schmidt, authorities were “alerted to the man by a tip from a foreign intelligence service.” The initial challenge was locating him, as he “apparently had several registered addresses in the city.”

When one knows enough about the city to realize where the Polizei snatched him up and what the location becomes towards the holidays, well, one has to believe the ‘migrant’ might have had some malevolent market mischief in mind.

The arrest on Saturday took place near Potsdamer Platz, shortly after the opening of the Winter Wonderland. Petzold addressed speculation about the Christmas market being a target, stating:

“Of course, the investigation is proceeding in all directions. And the target must naturally be determined, but that is all part of the investigation.

…The suspect had also drawn the attention of investigators through his activity on social media. According to the public prosecutor’s office, he allegedly shared propaganda from the terrorist organization Islamic State on several occasions. This included songs or anthems with a jihadist context, and he faces a charge of disseminating propaganda materials of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations.

Mum’s the word so far on whether he has any little friends involved with him.

In a classic example of European obfuscative argle-bargle, the German interior minister issued a peculiarly worded statement for a crime that has at least one live suspect and hard evidence in hand. I don’t see anything remotely ‘abstract’ about that.

Germany’s own statistics for just the first half of this year alone would call him, at the very least, disingenuous.

Despite claims of the alleged grave threat of “right-wing extremism” presented by the media and the political left in Germany, the data tells another story. In the first half of 2025, a staggering 99 percent of new proceedings initiated by the German Federal Prosecutor General targeted Islamist or foreign-related extremism.

As for right-wing extremism, there were only two cases, and for left-wing extremism, there were zero.

The German Federal Prosecutor General tends to handle high-level cases involving “state security,” and according to the office, “this includes criminal acts of terrorism and espionage, as well as crimes under the German International Criminal Code.”

From Jan. 1 to June 30, 2025, a total of 146 proceedings were opened, reported German media outlet Nius. Of these, 144 had a migration-related background. The extremist perpetrators are mostly Syrians, Iraqis, and Afghans.

But there’s another problem with the jihadists when they catch them, whether mercifully before they’ve killed or tragically afterward. The German state borders are so porous, it seems they’re stuck with these barbaric savages in any event, whatever truly heinous things they’ve done to the German people.

A Somali man who stabbed three women to death in Würzburg, Bavaria, cannot be deported from Germany and will remain in psychiatric care in the country indefinitely.

The Attorney General’s Office in Munich’s prosecutors told German news site BR24 on October 31 that a release for his deportation over the 2021 atrocity was not possible “for the protection of the general public”.

The decision came after an expert opinion had concluded that a deporting the perpetrator came with a high risk of his re-entry to Germany, which might enable him to commit “further serious criminal offences”.

What a sick, SICK joke that country’s become.

And the season’s just starting.

I can’t imagine how festive markets are when people are wondering if it’s going to be bombed, or if someone will run through swinging a knife, or if it will just be another vehicle driving itself into the once-happy but now always anxious crowds.

Not only in Germany, but France, Spain – all of the places that once celebrated with lights and music and vendors bedecked in magical Christmas twinkles.

It’s so sad.

It so didn’t have to happen, and it still doesn’t have to be this way.

This is a choice.
