BBC Censures Presenter For Saying ‘Women’ Instead of ‘Pregnant People’ – HotAir

The BBC is and has been “woke” for a long time.

Having recently been caught manipulating video by slicing and dicing President Trump’s speech to create a fake narrative—an offense for which the producers of the program Panorama have yet to be disciplined, despite having intentionally lied to their viewers—the state broadcaster is now punishing one of its presenters (what we call “anchors”) for substituting the word “women” for the script’s “pregnant people.”

Martine Croxwell did make a face as she first read the original script and added “women” after pregnant people, and the BBC says that the facial expression violates their standard of remaining neutral. How using the woke term “pregnant people” and describing males identifying as women is neutral—especially given the fact that the Supreme Court recently held that men are men and women are women—was not explained.

The BBC has upheld 20 impartiality complaints over the way presenter Martine Croxall altered a script she was reading live on the BBC News Channel, which referred to “pregnant people” earlier this year.

Croxall was introducing an interview about research on groups most at risk during UK heatwaves, which quoted a release from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

The presenter changed her script to instead say “women”, and the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) said it considered her facial expression as she said this gave the “strong impression of expressing a personal view on a controversial matter.”

The presenter said: “Malcolm Mistry, who was involved in the research, says that the aged, pregnant people … women … and those with pre-existing health conditions need to take precautions.”

The ECU said it considered Croxall’s facial expression laid it open to the interpretation that it “indicated a particular viewpoint in the controversies currently surrounding trans identity.”

“Impartiality,” in this context, means “leftist framing,” is the answer, of course.

BBC, in addition to manipulating President Trump’s speech, intentionally spread Hamas propaganda according to a leaked internal report by the watchdog within the broadcaster.

The BBC actually has a unit where alphabet activists vet LGBTQ stories, and they have the power to censor coverage they deem offensive to…themselves

A newsreader who went viral after she made a face while changing the word “pregnant people” to “women” during a live broadcast has been found to have broken BBC impartiality rules.

Martine Croxall made the expression as she changed her script in an introduction to an interview with an assistant professor about groups most at risk during UK heatwaves.

Croxall won a legion of fans following the live broadcast, including author JK Rowling.

The broadcaster’s Executive Complaints Unit (ECU), however, considered her facial expression expressed a “controversial view about trans people”.

The decision comes during a difficult week for the corporation, following revelations by The Telegraph of a damning memo written by one of its own advisers.

Among multiple criticisms was the claim that the broadcaster’s coverage of transgender people was subject to “effective censorship” by specialist LGBT reporters who refuse to cover gender-critical stories.

This is what I mean by “The Narrative™.” There are approved ways of discussing issues and unapproved ways. And that includes censoring or manipulating the words of people with whom the woke disagree.

Ironically, Croxall’s interjection didn’t just reflect the dominant view of gender in Great Britain, as well as the interpretation of the law by Britain’s highest court in a recent ruling, it also accurately reflected something that the BBC didn’t want acknowledged: that the assertion that gender is self-determined is “controversial.”

They rebuked Croxall for expressing a view on a controversial issue, while the original script actually took a position on that same controversial issue. Her facial expression made clear something the original script did not: that there is a controversy.

Had Croxall not expressed her displeasure with the framing, the original BBC script would have reported as an undisputed fact that it is not only women who can get pregnant.

As much as it is true that gender ideology is no longer marching forward in its effort to remake society—it has faced setbacks—it is also true that it really isn’t losing much ground. The woke are entrenched, and the battle looks more like the front lines of a trench warfare battle that barely moves.

As in World War I, all the battles are taking place on our territory, not the enemy’s. That has to change.
