I’m Matt Delaney with the Washington Times.
We are here on the National Mall for the Army’s 250th anniversary celebration.
We’ve been out talking to people on the mall, talking to attendees, talking to veterans, talking to soldiers currently in the force, about the equipment they work with, talking to veterans, about what they think about the celebration and people coming to visit, see how they’re enjoying the day.
[DELANEY] Captain, can you tell us what’s going on in your tent here?
[Captain Michael Austin from the 75th Ranger Regiment] Set up to kind of show the public what the Ranger Regiment is, what we do, and then display some of our equipment for ’em. So I’ve got nine guys here from across the Ranger Regiment and just been interacting with the public since about eight this morning.
[DELANEY] What’s it been like talking with the people today?
[AUSTIN] It’s been awesome. Everybody out here coming from a bunch of different backgrounds, met people from different states, different countries, and everybody is just like pumped to be out here asking lots of great questions. Some people interested in joining, which is cool. We love to motivate them to do that. And then some people just want to learn more about the Army and that’s been awesome, too.
