A camel kicked a woman in the head during a Christmas performance at a Houston megachurch, leading to her hospitalization.
The incident occurred Saturday during one of Champion Forest Baptist Church’s annual 90-minute Christmas performances, featuring performers suspended in mid-air, large-scale song and dance numbers, lighting and special effects, and live animals, the Houston Chronicle reported.
A camel, the first of two being led past seated audience members, lifted its left leg and kicked the woman in the head, as seen in a video posted on social media by independent news outlet Grizzy’s Hood News.
The woman, who is seen in the video suddenly lolling to the side and appearing unconscious, was hospitalized and released by Tuesday.
“Champion Forest regrets that this happened. Our team responded immediately, and emergency services were engaged,” church communications director Steven Miori told NBC News.
The church also stopped walking live animals down the aisles next to audience members for the remaining Christmas performances of the season.
Champion Forest Baptist Church has multiple locations and about 7,000 weekly worshippers, according to the Houston Chronicle.
