FBI shares photos of Charlie Kirk assassin suspect

Law enforcement officials on Thursday released photos of the suspected assassin who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The photos shared by the FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office show a fair-skinned man wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, dark jeans, and a dark baseball cap and sunglasses.

The suspect appears to have a backpack on as he walks up a flight of stairs in the surveillance footage. The man’s dark-colored t-shirt featured an image of an eagle superimposed over an American flag.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls said agents found a “high-powered, bolt-action rifle in a wooded area where the shooter had fled.”

A gunman fatally shot Mr. Kirk at his event Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

The agency said the gunman was not in the woods when they searched it, but did gather footwear impressions, palm prints and forearm prints for analysis. The weapon’s origin is also being investigated by the FBI.

Rifle cartridges recovered by investigators were engraved with ’transgender and anti-fascist ideology,” according to an ATF email obtained by multiple news outlets.
