As Too Many Liberals Celebrate, Ordinary People Mourn Charlie Kirk’s Assassination – HotAir

First of all, I have to assume most people, regardless of their political party, are appalled by the murder of Charlie Kirk. We can’t assume that all Democrats are as evil as the most vocal activists are.

Unfortunately, even the best of them are likely to go the “I don’t approve of violence, but…” route, blaming Trump and MAGA for inciting violence that somehow always gets aimed at us and ours.

One of the most disturbing videos I have seen today, after the assassination itself, is this tidbit from the floor of the House of Representatives. As most Members were stunned by the news, Lauren Boebert requested a moment of silent prayer for Charlie Kirk.

Democrats–presumably mostly from the viewing seats and not the well of the chamber–erupted into shouts of “No!”

I can’t even. The hate has reached the very House Chamber of the United States of America, where some number of people wanted to denigrate Charlie Kirk as he lay dying.

Charlie Kirk is known as an activist, and he certainly was that, but the means by which he approached the politics of the day was by engaging in civil speech with people of all persuasions. He was enormously civil and studiously avoided hateful speech. His whole reason for being was approaching people where they are and having conversations with them.

Charlie recently explained why he does what he does, and elliptically referred to the danger he had accepted as part of his mission.

People hated him for that. For NOT being hateful or in your face. He was a man of principle, and by standing up for them in the face of dissent, he challenged the stereotype that the Biden Democrats kept trying to put into people’s minds about Republicans.

He was shot for having conversations, during a conversation.

Democrats have been demonizing Republicans for a long time now, but they have been ramping up the rhetoric to 11. The result has been a rash of violence–school shootings, assassination attempts, and calls to violence are becoming commonplace. Charlie was shot while discussing the recent mass shootings, which tells you everything you need to know.

As I wrote earlier today, MSNBC was the first to jump onto the “Charlie caused his own death” bandwagon, and I won’t share all the clips. But this is worth rewatching.

For all the hatred pouring out on BlueSky and TikTok, Charlie is being remembered by the people who knew him, and millions of people are praying for him and especially his family. The left may see him as a one-dimensional enemy, but the reality is that he was a man with deep faith and love for his wife and children, whom he cherished.

As Secretary Kennedy knows so well, the courageous truth tellers are always targets of hate. President Trump, who has been the target of the left in more ways than one, celebrated Charlie as a great man.

People who knew Charlie–I was not one of them, by the way–are devastated and sharing what a loving man he was. You can see that in his campus discussions, where his mission was to reach out to fellow citizens with whom he disagreed and have genuine conversations–not fights, but conversations–as should happen every day in our country.

His goal was to avoid, not inspire, a civil war that has been brewing in this country.

Unfortunately, we are one step closer after today.
