Iran says it has developed newer, better missiles and is prepared to use them against Israel

Iranian officials said it has newer, more powerful weapons than the missiles it launched in June during its 12-day war against Israel, calling them older models that had been produced several years ago.

Brig. Gen. Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s defense minister, said they were facing not only Israel in the conflict but the “full logistical, intelligence, and support capacity of the United States.”

“Today, we have manufactured and deployed missiles with far better capabilities compared to those used previously,” Gen. Nasirzadeh said, according to the official Islamic Republic News Agency. “If the Zionist enemy embarks on another adventurism, we will definitely use these missiles.”

He stated that Israel has deployed its most advanced air defense systems, including Iron Dome, Patriot and Arrow. Despite that, only about 40% of Iran’s missiles were intercepted in the early stage of the conflict, while 90% hit their targets in the final days of the war.

The Iranian defense minister said Tehran didn’t rely on foreign sources to support its military operations against Israel.

“Everything that was used in the war was produced by our defense industries,” Gen. Nasirzadeh said. “The world witnessed that the missiles we deployed precisely hit their targets and inflicted heavy damage on the Zionist enemy.”
