The US Is Turning Into One of the Worst Countries – HotAir

I’m not certain that Ilhan Omar is the best messenger for the Democratic Party. She spends most of her time attacking America from within, and now she has escalated her attacks now that Donald Trump is president.

I would be impressed by her newfound admiration for our Founding Fathers and the Constitution–things she routinely displays contempt for–except that this stems from the Democratic Party’s shift in tactics once they realized that the constant burning of the American flag has put people off.

Omar’s suggestion that the Somalia she fled under threat of death–her father was part of the Marxist-Leninist military government in Somalia, and was driven out of the country when that government was overthrown–was somehow superior to the United States under Trump is rich.

It also demonstrates what we already know–she is a Marxist like her father. Of course, she hates America, which she sees as a colonialist power that needs to be destroyed.

Omar’s admiration of the Founding Fathers is quite the turnaround. At a BLM rally, she had this to say:

“This is not going to be the country of the xenophobics,” Omar said. “This is not going to be the country of white people.”

“This is not going to be the country of the few,” Omar said. “This is the country of the many.”

“This is the country that was founded on the history of Native American genocide, on the backs of black slaves but also by immigrants,” Omar said.

The Democrats have a problem with the growing influence of the Marxist Left in their party. The average Democrat voter is uncomfortable with their influence, but also knows that the Party needs them for electoral success. An outright split with the “Squad”-types would doom the Democrats to defeats as far as the eye can see, since the most engaged party members are leftists.

So they stay quiet for the most part. It is only people like Carville, who is past his sell-by date, who can take the far left on.

It’s a conundrum–one exemplified by Gavin Newsom’s shift to the right one moment, and shift to the left the next. The Democrats need the center, but can’t abandon the left. Attacking Trump and Republicans is the only thing on which they can agree.
