Who on Wu’s Staff Bit Who? – HotAir

Wu, hoo!

The feisty staff helping progressive firebrand and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu destroy the city sure looks like they’ve been taking all that pent-up aggression home with them and duking it out after hours for stress relief.

Now, to be fair, Mayor Wu is known for having an eclectic governing style, an aggressively confrontational public persona when questioned, and surrounds herself with rigidly loyal true believers of every shape, size, color, and multiple pronouns.

This pair – Marwa Khudaynazar and Chulan Huang – was involved in what Boston legend Howie Carr has dubbedBite Out in Chinatown.‘ They both work for the mayor’s office and were, for lack of a better term, ‘romantically involved.’

This sounds like a classic case of somebody got mad at somebody, did something stupid to make them jealous, and then had to make sure they knew about it, so they went over to tell them personally.

 It all went south spectacularly.

…According to the police report, Khudaynazar called 911 at about 2:09 a.m. Thursday to report that her boyfriend, Huang, “took her phone and car and took off.” Huang returned before officers responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers heard shouting as they approached the door.

Police found an open door and knocked and announced their presence. Inside, they saw a shirtless man later identified as Huang, and Khudaynazar, who, according to police, was yelling “please let me go.”

Officers separated the pair and saw multiple bite marks on the man’s chest and arms, according to the police report.

Huang told one officer: “She went on a date with my boss.” “And then they booked a hotel room and she came here to rub it in my face.” He then mentioned that he “ran out the back door” after he took Khudaynazar’s phone and “read through the messages.”

Well, many of us have heard that sad story a thousand times before, especially if you’ve ever been in the service with young, lonely troops and their immature, vindictive girlfriends.

Kind of weird for ‘professionals’ though, or I would have thought so.

But that was only the start. After claiming she’d only bitten Huang in self-defense when he wouldn’t let go of her arm, Ms Khudayna suddenly changed gears when police went to arrest him.

She claimed she’d been lying about that part, then pulled a ‘we work for the mayor’s office‘ card in an attempt to shoo the now really involved officers out of the apartment, and when they would not leave, she decided to shove them out physically.

…When officers went to arrest Huang, Khudaynazar stated, “I don’t want that, I was lying, I was lying, I swear to god I was lying, I bit him, he has bit marks on him.” She allegedly shut the door on an officer who tried to enter the apartment, saying, “We both work for the city of Boston, we both work for the Mayor’s Office.”

The police report details how Khudaynazar refused to provide officers with her ID to verify her address as she ignored orders to leave the apartment. Khudaynazar then claimed that she did live there.

Khudaynazar then allegedly used her body to block an officer from leaving the apartment, telling the officer to use another door to get out, the police report states. The officer declined, with the woman responding, “So make me move.”

The officer said “excuse me” several times before “trying to physically move her hand out of the way.”

Khudaynazar then allegedly “ripped her hand out of the officer’s hand and pushed the officer’s right hand and proceeded to strike the officer on the chest,” according to the police report.

Khudaynazar allegedly shouted expletives as the officer eventually exited.

After police placed Khudaynazar in handcuffs and brought her to the cruiser, Huang allegedly uttered from the back of the vehicle, “We both work for the city this is unnecessary.”

That last line is a hoot.

At least she didn’t bite the cops.

So, this would normally be a kerfuffle in a bucket, except for the positions of the two challengers in the now very well-publicized dust-up.

Ms Khudaynazar is an Afghan American refugee who immigrated to Boston ‘at an early age,’ and has worked her way up through local government to hold the office of Chief of Staff at the Office of Police Accountability.

How awkwardShe makes $83,769.77 a year.

In the opposing corner of this romantic ruckus is a similar story – an immigrant young child, coming to this country from China. As the Neighborhood Business Manager, Mr Huang works for the city and collects $70,469,22 a year.

Mayor Wu is not amused.

Even with as blind an eye as Wu is known to have for transgressions…

…this might be one scratch-and-dent session too far for her to stomach. They both might be looking for a job in the near future.

…Both of their bios have since been taken down from the city’s website.

“When the City learned of the incident, both employees were placed on unpaid leave effective immediately while the City continues to investigate,” a city spokesperson said. “The City takes these allegations very seriously and holds all public servants to the highest standard.”

The press is already having a field day, and now it’s, ‘Hang on a minute. Who was that ‘boss’ she was with…?’

Yeah. This line is everywhere.

…“She went on a date with my boss,” he reportedly told responding officers. “And then they booked a hotel room and she came here to rub it in my face.”

It’s the kind of nightmare publicity that takes on a life of its own in an administration that’s already got all sorts of spotlights shining on it.
