During his 1984 presidential campaign, President Ronald Reagan famously claimed, “It’s morning again in America.” These words remain strikingly true over 40 years later with the dawn of the second Trump administration. The feeling of hope is palpable, paired with the thrill of the golden age ahead. It’s morning again in America.
Within the first month of his second term, President Donald Trump enacted executive orders to secure our borders, strengthen our military, and protect our children from medical procedures rooted in predatory gender ideology. He is aggressively pursuing a “spring cleaning” of our government spearheaded by the Department of Government Efficiency .
Trump’s America First mindset, paired with the leadership of his carefully assembled cabinet of patriots, is drawing the American dream back within our reach with each passing day.
Patriotism is on the rise, and the U.S. Army is already set to meet its recruiting goal this year. America is again beginning to feel like the America we once knew and loved.
This restored national pride was on full display during the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off. Though the USA hockey team was unable to secure the win in the championship game against Canada, the American players and fans alike showcased what it means to love your country. From the sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” ringing out after each Team USA goal to the sight of 1980 Olympic Team USA hockey heroes Mike Eruzione and Rob McClanahan, the event was a passionate display of American culture and spirit.
Despite the coming of the golden age, some maintain a negative attitude towards the hope the rest of us share for our future. To remind the world of American exceptionalism, Trump approved renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. The president said his decision was to “ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes.”
Critics disagreed with Trump’s sentiment, believing this executive order is merely stimulus for horrors to come. According to Politico, “the country is about to go through a smashmouth fight, state by state, over the renaming of landmarks and public utilities after the vainglorious president himself.”
While the political naysayers dwell in their sourness towards the Trump administration, the majority of America can finally catch a breath of fresh air. What was untrue during the Biden administration is overwhelmingly true now: “The grown-ups are back in control.”
Political affiliation aside, I, like many American citizens, want a president and administration who will fight for my country. American men and women are determined and tough. These characteristics should be reflected throughout all levels of the United States government.
This was not the case with the previous administration. In fact, our Founding Fathers would not recognize the facade of our country over the past four years.
In America’s golden age, the fear of intellectual diversity must be eradicated. Fellowship needs to be restored in American communities where political tension has had its way. Our schools can no longer indoctrinate our society’s most precious and vulnerable sector, our youth.
The making of a golden age is not a feat free of hardship. There will undoubtedly be growing pains as the current administration seeks to return American culture to the most excellent version of its intended state. This is a necessary endeavor for the health and preservation of our great experiment.
As a young woman, the excitement I feel about the golden age of America is immeasurable. My sincere gratitude for being an American is fundamental to my anticipation of a safer and stronger country. In the words of political commentator Dana Perino, “Being born in the United States means you have already won the lottery of life. You have hit the jackpot.”
