Donald Trump to head to Michigan for rally marking his first 100 days

President Trump will be celebrating his 100th day in office in Michigan with a rally next week.

Mr. Trump will fly to Macomb County, Michigan on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

“President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will rally in Macomb County to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!” Ms. Leavitt wrote on social media.

Rep. John James, Michigan Republican whose district represents Macomb, said the region is “honored to welcome President @realDonaldTrump back to MICHIGAN to celebrate the first 100 days of America’s New Golden Age.”

“Together, we will Make Michigan Great Again,” he wrote.

Michigan is a battleground state that Mr. Trump won last November. It will be his first time back there since winning the state narrowly over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

He was last in the Wolverine state the night before the election for another rally.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has visited Mr. Trump in the White House twice, despite being a vocal advocate for Ms. Harris during the campaign. Ms. Whitmer, a Democrat, and Mr. Trump have discussed the economy, jobs and tariffs during her visits.

The celebration of the president’s first 100 days is a tradition and a milestone for measuring campaign promises made, and to set the tone for the rest of the term.
