White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the Department of Government Efficiency uncovered something extraordinary but said she couldn’t share what it is.
“There has been a discovery. I hate to leave you hanging on a cliff, but I don’t want to get ahead of the president on that,” she told reporters at the press briefing Tuesday. “But I can confirm there has been a discovery; it’s just not quite yet ready for release.”
President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One last week that Elon Musk and DOGE found something “horrible.”
“They found something today that’s horrible. It’s horrible — you’ll find out very soon,” Mr. Trump said. “What they found is incredible, and we give [Mr. Musk] a lot of credit. He’s got some very smart people.”
DOGE was created by Mr. Trump and tasked with finding wasteful spending and shrinking the size of the government.
