It has been nearly a year since Israel ceased major military operations in Gaza with the October 10th ceasefire.
Despite that fact, Israel remains one of the top news stories around the world, and the coverage would have you believe that the Israelis are carpet bombing the Gaza Strip and lining up women and children for execution.
If getting Gaza off the front pages was Bibi Netanyahu’s goal in stopping his war prematurely, and I am afraid that is what he did, that goal has not been met.

Israel is just as salient in Western politics today as it was a year ago, and Israel’s reputation, if you trust the polls, is arguably worse now than a year ago.
And Hamas? It is just as bad as it ever was, and the Palestinian population’s suffering in the Gaza Strip has not abated.

Of course, if you buy the spin of Pravda and the United Nations, the predatory behavior of Gazans and Hamas is all Israel’s fault. Gaza is the land of Schröedinger; it was simultaneously a paradise and an open-air prison before the war, and the people there are brutal but have no moral agency, because they are mind-controlled by Israel.
Women in Gaza are being traded for food and forced into marriages with their rapists, according to a pair of reports from the United Nations — underscoring the critical importance of President Trump’s Board of Peace in the war-torn enclave.
There was a 123% increase in the number of early and forced marriage incidents across Gaza in the first quarter of 2026, with women between the ages of 18-59 suffering 68% of all gender-based violence (GBV) in the Palestinian enclave, the United Nations’ Population Fund (UNFPA) found.
Researchers spoke to women who said young girls were married off to rapists, traded for food or given up by guardians who did not want to take care of them amid the humanitarian crisis caused by the Israel-Hamas war.
If Israel’s war turned a peaceful and empathetic population into a bunch of pedophilic, slaveholding, misogynistic brutalizers, it’s hard to explain why they were pedophiles, slaveholders, and misogynistic brutalizers who either participated in or cheered on October 7th.
Yes, the place is hell. And yes, most of the denizens are demons who belong there. And they work hard to train the next generation to be as brutal as possible.

When you hear about the “children” being “murdered” in Gaza, you need to understand just how frequently those children were shooting at soldiers with the guns their parents or teachers gave them. And it is almost as likely as not that Western dollars paid for those teachers and guns, given how many USAID-salaried teachers and doctors were in Hamas or advocates for them.

I wish that weren’t so, of course, both because the war will be perpetual as long as it is, and because child soldiers are put into the meat grinder to become convenient casualties for the terror regime.
But they are not the innocents portrayed in the media. They have been shaped into weapons.

As for living conditions in Gaza? You see the curated pictures and videos, but the truth is somewhat different. There is plenty of devastating war damage, but Gaza is filled with expensive cars bought with Western aid dollars, cafes, and dance clubs that sure don’t look like they are Imam-approved.

As legitimate as it is to hate the media for all its lies, and we don’t hate them enough for being willing accomplices with some of the most evil people in the world, we can’t entirely spare the people who willingly swallow those lies. At best, they are lazy, and at worst, they know they are being lied to and are comfortable being told what to think.
If they refused to form opinions about Israel and Gaza, that would be one thing. Nobody is required to have strong opinions about faraway news items that don’t affect them. In some ways, it’s healthy not to, since we can’t be passionate about everything, no matter how monumental it is for the people involved.

But that’s not what is happening for many people; they have formed strong opinions and base voting decisions on Israeli policies while swallowing propaganda whole, even after having ample reason to believe the media lies to them.
Chances are, if you asked random people on the street, most of them would believe that the war is still going strong, and those same people would be passionate about what Israel is doing.
It’s appalling. I’m willing to be that half the midwits writing Op/Eds on Israeli actions who have zero idea that the war is basically over. There are flare-ups here and there, but they discuss the war as if it were still going on.
The media is to blame for most of this and deserves most of our ire. But reserve more than a little for people who spout nonsense because they want to have a cause to rally behind yet don’t have the intellectual curiosity to know what they are spouting off about.
