Kyle Rittenhouse was in the news again yesterday after he was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider, which apparently is a very bad thing.
Rittenhouse, you no doubt recall, became famous worldwide for surviving an attack from three rioters, all of whom were then committing crimes. One was a convicted paedo, another had strangled his brother and was a domestic abuser, and the third was illegally carrying a firearm at the time Rittenhouse shot him in self-defense.
Rittenhouse was charged with the crime of murdering and assaulting these criminals who were attacking him, and was exonerated because he shot them in self-defense.
Rittenhouse was vilified by the media and the left, and you can understand why. He took out their favorite kind of violent criminals: Antifa terrorists burning a city down after lives filled with sexual assaults on children and beating up innocents.
Also, “…opening fire…” as if he wasn’t defending himself.

NBC took it as a challenge to find a new way to smear Rittenhouse and rewrite history to make the bad guys the victims, and I have to say that I am very impressed. In covering the original story, the media and the left (but I repeat myself) managed to rewrite history quite a bit, so there really wasn’t much room for more creative writing, but they found a new angle.
If you asked any liberal at the time, they would have told you that Rittenhouse traveled halfway across the country to hunt black people in Kenosha, WI, for sport. The men Rittenhouse shot were actually white Antifa rioters and looters who were hunting him for sport, and attacked him viciously (and in one case with a gun), but those are mere details to the media.

But NBC went even fuller Pravda here. Rittenhouse didn’t defend himself against people trying to kill him in the midst of a riot in which Kenosha was being burned down. Instead, he “opened fire” at a “civil rights rally.”
It makes him sound like a sniper aiming at Martin Luther King, Jr.
Opened fire. At a civil rights rally. They actually wrote that, put it out as their primary description of Rittenhouse, and are no doubt proud of how clever they seem.

It is impossible to overstate how vile these people are. They genuinely hate Rittenhouse because his story, properly understood, shows how degenerate their heroes are. These men stalked and assaulted Rittenhouse, who tried to run away, and when forced to, he shot three men. Each turned out to be a truly vile criminal with a history of violence.
So history had to be rewritten, and Rittenhouse turned into Emmanuel Goldstein.

The left’s main beef with Rittenhouse is that he didn’t die in Kenosha that day. It really irks them that he refused to be victimized by Antifa thugs who were attacking him.

Even worse, Rittenhouse isn’t groveling for his failure to die. He fought the people who attacked him. He fought the prosecutors who tried to crucify him in court, and he defeated the media smears to come out the other side unbowed and unafraid.

I’ve never had much of an opinion about Kyle, one way or another. I think he did the right thing in the moment, and that the campaign of lies and smears has been disgraceful. I also would have advised him to stay away from Kenosha that evening, not because it was wrong for him to go, but because nothing good would come of it.
I would have been right, of course. Kyle almost died and has been vilified for defending himself, with a good chunk of the country wishing him ill. That’s not Kyle’s fault—it’s the fault of people who celebrate lawlessness, defend paedophiles and family abusers, and Antifa rioters who point guns at innocent people as the good guys.
I didn’t even realize Kyle Rittenhouse didn’t shoot a black person until very recently.
Again, a stark reminder that:
a) The media will lie to you to promote a narrative.
b) There is a double standard of behavior for those who fit the narrative vs those who do not.

Decency does not “reflect our values.” That is the message the left sends us every day, and “journalists” such as those at NBC remind us that they work every day to assert those perverted values.
Liberals live in a world where Kyle Rittenhouse “opened fire at a civil rights rally.” For people who live in the real world, that description seems breathtaking in its dishonesty and degeneracy. But then again, we are dealing with people who believe that celebrating Iryna Zarutska’s life does not reflect their values.
