Actually, I could pull up a thousand videos of liberals reversing themselves as it becomes convenient, but this video of Tim Miller is a great example because only 10 days separate his obvious reversal, revealing that he quite consciously lied.

Miller has become one of the most prominent former conservatives, doing The Bulwark’s podcast and regularly appearing on MSNBC/MSNOW. The Bulwark supposedly conserves conservatism, whatever that means, and is a key propaganda outlet for the left.
He was Jeb! Bush’s communications director, and now one of the designated liars of the Democratic Party.

These reversals are among the most common in the world among defenders of truth and science who make it their mission to fight misinformation. Along with censoring wrongthink, rewriting history, and creating hoaxes, these reversals serve to keep the acolytes of the left completely unmoored from reality.
You would think that the obviousness of the falsehoods would be discrediting, but obviously, the opposite is the case. Hatred of Trump is the motivating factor in all things for these people, so beliefs follow emotions rather than the other way around.

COVID and the Biden fiasco both show how there needs to be no connection between reality and what people say to stoke emotions to keep the rage flowing. The whole “cheap fakes” narrative switched to “Biden is senile and must go” in a heartbeat. For me, the most amazing reversal was The New York Times’ publication of George Clooney’s commentary on Biden after the debate, authorized by Barack Obama (with whom Clooney is close).
Before the debate, Clooney and the Democrats loudly denied that Biden’s needing to be led off the stage by Obama was anything but a friendly gesture.

Shortly after the debate, Clooney spilled the beans: Biden didn’t even recognize him. This didn’t hurt Clooney’s credibility a bit, and all those people who insisted that Biden was sharp as a tack are still the Democrats’ designated liars, treated as truth tellers.

For two straight years, Democratic officials, White House staffers, and media figures went on camera and said Joe Biden had a photographic memory, limitless energy, and zero signs of cognitive decline.

We make a mistake if we think that these tactics discredit the propagandists or that they don’t work.
But why do they?
It’s because the “facts” exist only to support a pre-existing opinion that is held with the ferocity of a lioness defending her cubs, and that opinion has absolutely nothing to do with anything you imagine they do. “Tax the rich,” or “Trump is senile,” or “Biden is sharp” are all surface opinions, fronting for something much more basic: hatred, rage, and a will to power.
The statements themselves are as related to rational thought as inarticulate grunts, using words to feed the emotions, not to persuade or communicate ideas.
In that video, Tim Miller didn’t contradict himself at all. He was saying the same thing: Trump must be destroyed. Biden was useful for that purpose before the debate, damaging to the cause after. The underlying thought/emotion remained constant, and only looks inconsistent if you misunderstand his true intent.
That is, if you take his statements as attempts to communicate rationally.
Miller isn’t rational. Trump haters aren’t rational. Communists and socialists aren’t rational.
It’s not that one couldn’t dislike Trump and be rational, or criticize capitalism and be rational. It’s just that the political activists who do so are uttering the equivalent of primal screams, and hence taking anything they say seriously is a terrible mistake.
You are lucky if what they say rises to the level of sophistry. Often enough, it is just made up out of whole cloth, like the hoaxes we have to endure.
