I have been arguing that liberals are so deranged by their hatred of Donald Trump that they have chosen to side with Iran.
I am aware that, in most cases, I am inferring this from their arguments and their vicious attacks on Trump, Hegseth, their declaration against evidence that Iran is “winning,” and their attacks on Trump for committing “war crimes.”
Senator Mark Kelly, who was a pilot who struck Iraq during the Gulf War, insists that hitting bridges and power plants is a war crime, while of course he participated in a war in which the American government did exactly that. He slandered his fellow pilots and has yet to be asked if any of his own missions hit Iraqi infrastructure.
The answer is likely inconvenient to The Narrative: that America and Trump are losers, war criminals, or worse.
There are some liberals who are open about their desire for Trump, Netanyahu, America, and Israel to lose the war. Tom Friedman, one of the center-left’s favorite columnists, is one such liberal.

Don’t want Iran to lose if it means Trump wins. @TomFriedman of @NYTimes really wants “to see Iran defeated militarily because this regime is a terrible regime for its people and the region,” but on CNN’s @Smerconish he fretted “the problem is I really don’t want to see Bibi Netanyahu or Donald Trump politically strengthened by this war because they are too awful human beings. They are both engaged in anti-democratic projects in their own countries. They’re both alleged crooks. They are terrible, terrible people doing terrible things to America’s standing in the world and Israel’s standing in the world.”
His centrist bona fides are maintained by his acknowledgment that Iran is evil and should be defeated. His liberal bona fides are established by his desire that anybody but Trump and Bibi accomplish that task.

Liberals are firm believers that the real world doesn’t exist. Their feelings do. Rather than dealing in real-world problems and implementing real-world policies, they resort to pretty words for our enemies and raw hatred for their American opponents.

In the Israel-Hamas war, much of the media coverage was driven by a similar mindset. Sure, Hamas is filled with bad guys; but BIBI! Bibi is our real enemy, so if harming Bibi requires elevating Hamas to the status of victims, they are perfectly happy to do so.

This is why it’s so hard to trust the accuracy and fairness of the MSM.
They don’t exist to play it straight and cover the news. They exist to support their anti-Trump point of view. And don’t tell me Friedman is a columnist so he’s different. Friedman’s thinking infects virtually all reporters in the MSM. They are very much cut from the same cloth.

That liberals can now outright admit that they are willing to side with America’s enemies in order to destroy Donald Trump says nothing about Trump, except that he is correct that these people are enemies of the people.
It says a lot about these liberals themselves, though. Their loyalty is to their ideology, their class, and their vision of transnationalism. They would rather Iran win than have Trump win.

The reality is not just that the Democratic Party is captured by its leftist wing; Tom Friedman is one of the left’s top pundits, not a politician, and he is applauding the “destroy America to save America” path.
How many liberals outside the New York Times bubble will be appalled?
