Former “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Jen Shah is speaking out about sharing a prison cell with Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of sex-trafficking girls for Jeffrey Epstein.
Shah said she had little interaction with Maxwell at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, but that it was made publicly known to her and Elizabeth Holmes that there was no remorse for her actions.
“I chose to have very limited interaction with her. She made it very publicly known, at least to Elizabeth and I, that there’s no remorse there,” Shah told People magazine.
Shah said she saw Maxwell working out in the recreation area, where Shah had a prison job during her time behind bars.
When Epstein’s victims would appear on prison televisions, such as when they spoke before Congress or held press conferences calling for the release of the government’s Epstein files, Maxwell showed complete disregard for them.
“It was a lot when the victims would be on TV and talking. She would just – complete disregard for them. This is when they are pouring their hearts out in front of Congress and for the files to be released and stuff,” Shah said.
Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking crimes in December 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for helping Epstein abuse women and girls, including underage girls. Epstein, a millionaire financier with ties to many wealthy and politically powerful men, died in a New York City jail in 2019 while facing federal sex trafficking charges.
Shah was convicted of running a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme targeting elderly victims. In January 2023, she was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison. She was also ordered to forfeit $6.5 million.
She served about two years and nine months in prison before being released in December 2025 to complete her sentence in home confinement.
Shah is still in home confinement.
