Pam Bondi to Be Fired ‘Imminently,’ and Trump Already Has a Replacement in Mind

Storm clouds are gathering around Attorney General Pam Bondi, with multiple news sources saying she will soon be severed from the Trump administration.

Bondi has been on the hot seat for months, beginning with a July memo on the Epstein files that said there was no client list and would be no disclosures, a reversal of earlier claims she had documents related to sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein on her desk. That triggered a tidal wave of outrage that has not yet receded.

One source told Politico’s Playbook that Bondi will be out “imminently.”

The report said that President Donald Trump spoke with EPA Administrator and former Rep. Lee Zeldin on Monday about stepping into the job if Bondi is fired.

Intermittent reports since July have pictured Bondi’s future as endangered, followed by periods of calm.

The Politico report said that support for Bondi, facing a House Oversight Committee subpoena to testify about the Epstein files held by the Justice Department, was waned once again in recent days.

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has noted that Bondi fumbled the Epstein response, even though Wiles supports Bondi.

CNN also reported that Trump has discussed firing Bondi, but framed her departure as less of a done deal than did Politico.

Bondi joined Trump during a Wednesday trip to the Supreme Court and during his message on the Iran war.

“Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” Trump said in a statement to CNN.

Trump shared the same statement with The New York Times as it reported that firing Bondi had become a subject of discussion at the White House.

CNN and the Times joined Politico in saying Zeldin was at the top of the list to replace Bondi.

“He’s our secret weapon,” Trump said about Zeldin in February, the Times noted.

Politico noted that although Bondi went with Trump to the Supreme Court, Zeldin rode along as well.

Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was the first member of Trump’s Cabinet to be moved out.

Bondi was not Trump’s initial choice for Attorney General. Former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida was piked, but withdrew after it was clear he could not overcome opposition to Senate confirmation.
