President Donald Trump signed a sweeping executive order on Tuesday targeting mail-in voting and voter eligibility — and the left lost its collective mind almost immediately.
The order, signed in the Oval Office, directs the Department of Homeland Security, working alongside the Social Security Administration, to compile verified lists of U.S. citizens in each state who will be 18 or older by the time of an upcoming federal election. It also bars the U.S. Postal Service from sending absentee ballots to anyone not enrolled in a state’s official mail-in or absentee voter list. On top of that, USPS must place ballots in secure envelopes with unique trackable barcodes — a commonsense measure that somehow became a fresh outrage for Democrats.
Trump called the order “foolproof,” then added with characteristic swagger, “Maybe it’ll be tested. Maybe it won’t.”
It will be tested. Count on it. The challenges are coming, and I’m sure Trump knows it. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has already said to Trump, “See you in court. You will lose.”
In fact, corrupt Democrat lawyer Marc Elias of Democracy Docket has already announced plans for a legal challenge, framing the whole thing as a scheme to disenfranchise Democrats. I know. Eyeroll, right?
That said, the order carries serious teeth. Attorney General Pam Bondi gets the authority to investigate and prosecute states or localities that distribute ballots to ineligible voters. States that refuse to comply risk losing federal funding — the same kind of leverage that’s already survived plenty of courtroom scrutiny. The Justice Department has already sued Washington, D.C., and 29 states for refusing to hand over voter rolls demanded for election integrity purposes.
“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary,” Trump said. “It’s horrible, what’s gone on. It’s very clearly covered, very, very clearly. So I think this will help a lot with elections.” He also made clear the order carves out exceptions for voters who are ill, disabled, traveling, or serving in the military — the groups Democrats always claim to be protecting.

Obviously, the order aligns with the goals of the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voter registration and voter ID at the polls. Democrats are currently obstructing the legislation in the Senate, despite its widespread popularity. “We’d like to have voter ID, we’d like to have proof of citizenship,” Trump said. “And that’ll be another subject for another time.”

Eight states automatically mail ballots to every registered voter — California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington, plus D.C., and naturally, outrage is pouring in.
Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes called the order “unconstitutional” and a “disgusting overreach.” Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read called it an “illegal power grab” and dropped the obligatory “We’ll see you in court.” Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows announced her state is not “going to obey in advance.” Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar insisted that Trump “manufactured a crisis where none exists.”
DNC Chairman Ken Martin even accused Trump of “trying to cheat.”
“Trump’s relentless assault on mail-in voting is un-American and harms all of us, especially seniors and our servicemembers who rely on mail-in voting to vote,” Martin said in a statement, even though there are exemptions in the order for our military and people who need mail-in voting. “The DNC won’t stand idly by as Donald Trump rips up our Constitution – we will keep fighting to ensure every eligible voter has their vote counted.”
