There is no demographic more class-conscious and bigoted than liberals.
It’s not even close.
You can explain a great deal of Western politics using no other variable than educational status and credentials. The higher your educational attainment and the more shiny your credentials, the more likely you are to be a radical totalitarian with a love for technocracy.
I’ve written about this many times before, and no doubt I will come back to this theme again. That’s not because I have an odd obsession with the topic or because I hate the over”educated” elite with the passion of 10,000 burning suns, but because the credentialed class presents the greatest threat to social trust and our societal health at the moment.
What triggered my thoughts on this topic once again was the back-and-forth over Jimmy Kimmel’s slam of Markwayne Mullin. Mullin, you see, can’t be a good fit for Secretary of Homeland Security because he was just a plumber.
I don’t get it – it’s a flex AOC was a bartender but it’s a negative Markwayne was a plumber?
You are such a hack. https://t.co/clMnaaA6wA

It’s a variation on the “Pete Hegseth was a Fox News host” argument. It’s as predictable a line of attack as any that would come from a liberal.
“I went to Columbia; you didn’t graduate from college.”
Meghan McCain, as a conservative, was justifiably confused by the line of attack. For people like us, the question isn’t what credentials one has, but what one can do. It’s not your social class, but your competence that matters. What kind of results can you produce?
I’m not going to dis AOC’s B.A., but do you really think earning a bachelor’s degree is a more impressive achievement than taking a small family business w/ 6 employees and turning it into a company with over 300 employees and $20 million in annual sales? If so, you’re an idiot. https://t.co/8T9UfA1W58

Mullin is a producer. He built a small business into a big one. He dropped out of college when his father fell ill, turned his family business into a powerhouse, and worked his way up to the Senate. We’ll have to see how he does, because the bottom line is what have you done for me lately?, but the man has chops.
AOC? She got a B.A. in economics and is a socialist. The two obviously contradict each other, and she is widely derided as dumb as a box of rocks.
In the few hours since Senator Mullin was nominated by President Trump I’ve seen Very Important Media People make fun of:
– What kind of hats he wears
– That he was an MMA fighter
– That he doesn’t have a college degree
– His nameA good reminder—They hate middle America.

But she has a prestigious degree! That’s the only thing that a liberal sees. Although if you have one of their prized credentials and disagree with them, you are still a traitor.
The same people who laud Elizabeth Warren are attacking Mullin’s (irrelevant) credential as a member of the Cherokee tribe, because he can’t be a Republican and a Native American, right?
Markwayne Mullin says he’s part Cherokee.
I’ll call him Sitting Bullshit. pic.twitter.com/ifS2wfePaa— Eyes Wide Open 🧢 (@VaTechPhiDelt) March 24, 2026
Mullin is, in fact, an enrolled member of the Cherokee tribe. Whatever.
As important as racial and gender identities are to liberals, they place the highest value on credentials. They collect “oppressed” client groups and pander to them, but they also look down on them and demand that everybody bow down to the credentialed.
Credentials actually mean little, except as either social signifiers or indications that one has met the minimum standards of some institution or another. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t care whether a person practicing medicine is a doctor, but that only tells you a baseline fact, and little about their actual competence.
What do you call the person at the bottom of their medical school class?
Doctor.
Across all medical schools, about 1 in 4 enrolled black/Hispanic medical students had a below-average MCAT score.
Only 3% of white/Asian students did.
A vast preferential treatment exists in admissions to almost every med school. Three schools isn’t even the iceberg tip. https://t.co/3I2yhyiqGz pic.twitter.com/CgtqJ5G7iG

We should even be wary of the highly credentialed, because they tend to be overconfident in their judgment.
Did you live through COVID? I did. As a general rule, the more highly credentialed the person, the more likely they were to be wrong, and the more likely they were to use coercion to make you comply.
Ron DeSantis was 100% more likely to be right about COVID policy than Anthony Fauci. Enough said.
Look at the current reporting on fraud in our welfare system. Have it been credentialed bureaucrats and highly trained journalists who have rooted it out?
How is a kickback not fraud? A new audit found that Minnesota’s DHS would not investigate allegations of kickbacks in welfare programs, wrongly believing it was not authorized to do so. The cases didn’t get referred to law enforcement either! pic.twitter.com/FWpgRju7gW

Long before the “journalists” caught on to the massive fraud, citizen journalists like Nick Shirley—basically a kid—were exposing massive fraud amounting to billions of dollars. Nick is 23. There are hundreds of journalists who have been in the business longer than he has been alive who missed this story.
Screw your credentials. If I were hiring somebody today, I would prefer somebody who went to a state school rather than an Ivy League university. They are less likely to be whiny and unreliable, and hopefully less indoctrinated.
If AOC is your model for competence, as liberals seem to think she should be, you have no business voting.
