You Know Who’s Happy About DSA Wins This Cycle? – HotAir

I’ll take a wild guess and say … the Democratic Socialists of America? Obviously, but they’re not alone.

Give Politico some credit in this report from the House GOP confab this morning. The word pounce never appears. And readers have to get to the penultimate paragraph before seeing the word seized

Otherwise, we all know what Politico wants to say in this reaction from The Morning After, when Democrat establishmentarians more or less find themselves on the ceiling of the ballroom of the Poseidon after the tsunami. Republicans may not be pouncing yet, but they’re coiling themselves in anticipation of the messaging bonanza to come:

Inside a closed-door House GOP meeting Wednesday morning, the head of the Republican campaign arm said the victories of candidates backed by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani offered an opportunity for GOP House candidates to draw a sharp contrast.

Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina said “Democrats have a Bolshevik revolution going on in their primaries,” according to three people in the room granted anonymity to discuss the private event.

Speaker Mike Johnson also delivered remarks to Republicans setting the stakes of the election after the “radical” left-wing wins and urging Republicans to dig in and raise money to defeat Democrats this fall. He received a standing ovation, the people in the room said.

In other words, get ready for pouncing, and a lot of it. Johnson and the House Republicans took the lesson I laid out in my earlier post, which is that Democrats have transformed into a radical-Marxist revolutionary party. That makes midterm messaging a lot simpler, and it’s not just Republicans who are aware of the advantage this opens for the GOP:

House Democrats were left stunned on Tuesday night after two of their colleagues — including the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus — lost primaries to left-wing challengers.

Why it matters: The New York primary results are poised to double the bloc of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in Congress, something that is not sitting well with some moderates.

“People who do not support the DSA wring their hands at cocktail parties, while the DSA is organizing,” Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), the co-chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, told Axios. …

The centrist House Democrat who spoke anonymously said the results show that “appeasement doesn’t work. You have to be tough. Nancy Pelosi brought a machine gun to a knife fight. You can’t win with these guys by playing patty cake.”

A senior House Democrat, asked if their colleagues were worried about the results, said: “Yes they are.”

As they should be. Zohran Mamdani’s slate of primary challengers includes some people who flat-out want to destroy Western civilization and destroy America, and that’s no exaggeration. John Fund explains at The Spectator, via Instapundit:

But the eyepopper is the victory of Darializa Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old DSA member and PhD graduate student, in East Harlem and the Bronx. She defeated Adriano Espaillat, the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and will easily become the most radical House member since Vito Marcantonio of the American Labor Party represented the same area in the 1940s.

The night before his election in November, Zohran Mamdani filmed a video honoring his “radical” hero, Marcantonio.

Chevalier’s views would send even Marcantonio into orbit. DAC – as she will inevitably be dubbed – is so ideologically extreme that Jeff Maurer, a former writer for unrelentingly left-wing comic John Oliver’s HBO show, is gobsmacked by her. Maurer began his latest Substack post by announcing “My challenge is to find words to describe just how bonkers this Cirque du Soleil-level s—show truly is.”

DAC has called for abolishing police, prisons, and borders. As recently as last week, she refused to back down on those views when given an opportunity: “All deportations are wrong,” she says, even for those convicted of a crime.

Gee … who does this sound like?

It gets worse. Chevalier is a founder of Columbia University Apartheid Divest, which formed in 2024 in support of Hamas after the October 7 massacres. John goes into more detail on that, but here’s the CUAD agenda in brief:

Let’s reflect on point 4 in particular. The Democrat nominee for Congress in New York’s 13th CD has openly called for political violence in America to benefit the “Palestinian resistance.” In Point 2, Chevalier has also advocated for action to “undermine and eradicate America,” not as a youthful transgression, but just two years ago. There is a word for that, and it’s called insurrection. Democrats tossed that word around a lot six years ago, but this is the real thing, and now they are endorsing it.

Small wonder they’re worried about the midterms. They should be worried about the next several election cycles if Republicans are smart and competent enough to make this an issue in every single House and Senate race. Democrats are being captured by radical leftist/Marxist revolutionaries that they grew in Academia’s Petri dishes for the last several decades, and now the insurrectionist chickens have come home to roost.

I’m glad that Republicans see the opportunity, but I’ll be more happy if they seize the opportunity. I’ll even happily excuse the “Republicans pounce!™” narratives to come from the Protection Racket Media, as long as they truly pounce on every single opportunity to force Democrats to pay for their moral and civic collapse.
