Voter ID Ballot Measure Qualifies for CA’s November General Election Ballot – HotAir

Ho-lee-SMOKES

I think this was slipping quietly under the radar in California for two reasons. For one, the Democrats are preoccupied with shivving each other in the back over the unintended consequences of holding a jungle primary composed of forty mudwrestling egotistical woke mediocrities.

While two sober, rational Republicans stand well away from the splatter being flung and look to slide gook-free into the top slots.

I would venture a guess that the other reason no one’s really heard anything about this is by design. The last thing the Democrats want is some sort of rules and regulations that are popular with voters impinging on and crimping the flexibility inherent in the schweet, schweet vote manipulation set-up they have going right now.

When you’ve raised cheating to a fine art, the last thing you need is someone changing it. So why let the voting public know they might have that option – who needs to remind the voters if they haven’t thought of it themselves, right?

   •      Extends mail-in voting deadline by an additional 7 days

   •      Illegals can now serve on recount committees

   •      Election officials can now appoint illegals to recount boards

   •      Mail-in ballots submitted ON ELECTION DAY also are given an additional 7 days after Election Day to be counted

Meaning: do the 2020 —how many votes would be needed on Election Day to overthrow the federal, state, and local governments.

“AB 930. It does not modernize the way people vote. It adds the ability for non-citizens to serve as recount board members. I’m not sure why a non-citizen should have any business serving on a board overseeing a U.S. election.”

📝 In other words: the sole reason they’ve been importing illegal aliens by the millions—is to vote and oversee U.S. elections and ultimately overthrow the Constitutional Republic of the United States.

You just cannot make this up!

RIGHT? DON’T BLOW A GOOD THING

When state Dems are working against something that hard and that disingenuously – the SAVE Act – they’re running cover for the operation they’ve been running.

And against all odds, a voter ID petition effort led by a hardworking California state representative, Carl DeMaio, has garnered over 960,000 signatures and qualified for the November general election ballot.

Democrat and progressive heads have to be exploding, as this is not simply a ‘show ID at the polling station’ measure.

Should it pass, this is going to be a game-changer in the filthy cess-pool that is CA electioneering, and the panicked lies and smears are already starting to be broadcast.

No more anonymous mail-in ballots. There would now be controls on those, along with other security changes, like cross-checking to confirm citizenship. Also, the four-digit ‘ID’ written on the envelope is not part of someone’s SSN, but a prechosen registration identification number from a government ID – their designated government-issued ID number from voter registration (e.g., driver’s license, passport, or SSN) – that has been verified and is on file with the registrar.

A “yes” vote supported this ballot initiative to:

  • require voters to present a government-issued ID for in-person voting or provide the last four digits of a government-issued ID designated during voter registration for mail-in voting;
  • require election officials to “maintain accurate voter registration lists [and]… use best efforts to verify citizenship attestations using government data” and to report each year the percentage of each county’s voter rolls that have been citizenship-verified;
  • require the State Auditor to audit government compliance with these requirements during odd-numbered years and report “findings and recommendations for improving the integrity of elections to the public.”

There is going to be a lot more of the same where that came from, I’m afraid.

DeMaio, from the San Diego area, knows the hard part is ahead.

He, his Reform CA team, and the supporters and volunteers who are helping get the word out are going to have to fight a media counter effort, too.

The Orange County Register story I originally saw this in was nothing information-wise, and full of Eeyorish ‘poor people can’t get ID’ quotes. There were also pointed moans about the measure being ‘Republican-backed,’ you know, as opposed to the paper questioning why Democrats were, like, so vociferously fighting against a voting integrity measure.

Oh, yeah – TRUMP! too.

A proposed ballot measure that, if approved, would require voters to present government-issued identification at the polls has garnered enough signatures to qualify for the ballot in the general election this year, the secretary of state’s office said in an advisory to county elections officials on Friday, April 24.

The Republican-backed measure applies to mail-in voting as well; then, voters would need to write the last four digits of their ID on the envelope with their ballot.

But several civil rights and voting rights groups oppose the measure, arguing that an ID requirement could hinder communities that already face obstacles to voting, and it could possibly expose sensitive information for those who have to write their ID numbers on their mailed ballots.

“This voter ID measure is not about protecting voters; it is about importing the current federal administration’s election lies and intimidation tactics into California,” Jenny Farrell, executive director of the League of Women Voters of California, said in February.

In California, residents are required to provide an ID or Social Security number when they register to vote, but they do not have to show identification when they cast their ballots. First-time voters, though, may need to show an ID, the secretary of state advises.

President Donald Trump, who has often alleged widespread voter fraud without proof, is a supporter of voter ID initiatives. He’s long been a critic of how California conducts elections, and during the special election on redistricting last year, Trump said the election system was “rigged” without citing any evidence.

The local ABC affiliate is similarly sniveling, arguing the low-income folks can’t get IDs and that 14 other states don’t require it, so why should Californians have to, when everyone knows voter fraud is RARE.

…”We already show ID for everyday activities like flying, opening a bank account and picking up prescription medications. Thirty-six other states and many countries around the world already use voter ID,” said state Sen. Tony Strickland, a Republican from Huntington Beach.

“Californians deserve secure, transparent elections,” added Strickland, a proponent of the proposal.

If approved in November in the heavily Democratic state, other provisions would require those who vote through popular mail-in ballots would have to give the last four digits of a government-issued ID, such as a Social Security number.

California is among 14 states and the District of Columbia that do not require voters to show some form of identification at the polls or to register to vote.

While California at times has faced questions from critics about the legitimacy of its vote tallies, research shows voter fraud in the country is rare. Voting by noncitizens has occurred, but reviews of state cases have shown it to be uncommon and typically a mistake rather than an intentional effort to sway an election.

Most California residents vote by mail, and in the pursuit of accuracy, thoroughness and counting every vote, the nation’s most populous state has gained a reputation for tallies that can drag on for weeks – and sometimes longer.

The effort to tighten restrictions on voter registration and mail ballots will come in a critical election year, when Californians will be picking their next governor and with control of Congress on the line.

Opponents argued that such requirements make it more difficult for people to vote, especially the elderly, those with disabilities and those without driver’s licenses.

The specious, talking points arguments have gone out. The Left will parrot them relentlessly, no doubt with welling eyes and a catch in their voices as the election gets closer, especially if there looks to be movement towards the measure and growing awareness of it.

They will not be able to tolerate it, and the lies and fear will fly.

If there’s a Republican leading the contest come October, it could be spicy.

If both Republicans triumph in the jungle, and this is on the ballot, too?

There is a sense of giddy hopefulness that this could collapse the CA Dem machine if it passes. So that’s all the more reason the Democrats will pull out all the stops to ensure it doesn’t.

I tell you what – there isn’t enough popcorn in the country if this sets up for a win..
