The Texas all-girl summer camp where more than two dozen people were killed in flooding last year has announced it will not reopen, multiple news outlets report.
Camp Mystic has faced multiple lawsuits, a criminal investigation by the Texas Rangers, legislative scrutiny and a court order barring changes to and use of the flood site. Twenty-eight people, including 25 young campers, were killed in the July flood.
Thursday’s announcement marks the first time in nearly a century that the Christian girl’s camp will not be open for the summer.
Camp Mystic is located along the Guadalupe River in Hunt, Texas.
Several notable figures have attended the camp, including former first lady Laura Bush and the daughters of President Lyndon B. Johnson.
